Reds Aiming To End Away Blues
Nottingham Forest boss Colin Calderwood spelt out today the importance of his players ending their disappointing start to the season away from The City Ground.
The Reds have suffered three successive defeats on the road and now face an away double against Plymouth Argyle tomorrow and then Brian Laws' Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night.
And Calderwood admitted: "We have to get something from these games because we can't carry on not picking up points away. It's not good enough and if we keep on failing it will put a lot of pressure on us when we play at home.
"I know we are capable of it and if we want an example of how fortunes can change, we only have to look at the Plymouth side we face this weekend.
"They were struggling for any kind of result but they have won their last two away matches to put a whole different complexion on their early season form. But I know their manager Paul Sturrock and his sides are always organised and fit.
"Now they are going back in front of their own supporters looking to rectify the fact that they have only picked up one point from their three home games. Something has to give one way or the other on Saturday because we need to get up and running away from home."
The Forest manager also believes that his players are better equipped following the experiences they have had on their travels - even though they have led to successive defeats at Swansea, Wolves and Preston.
He added: "We are learning quickly, particularly from the Wolves' experience. The game was far too open and we were getting too many people ahead of the ball. It's all about players taking responsibility and showing greater awareness.
"We did that against Preston, where we were much more in control of the ball but unfortunately we conceded two very poor goals and gave ourselves too much to do.
"It's vital that we don't make the same kind of mistakes against Plymouth and come back with something to show for our efforts."
