CC on Preston Defeat
Tue 16 Sep 2008
Nottingham Forest manager Colin Calderwood was critical of the mistake that gave the first goal away as they suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Preston North End who Calderwood described as a well-polished side.
He told us: "It was an elementary mistake for the first goal and we find ourselves behind. It was as bad a goal as I have ever seen us give away, it is not as if it rocketed into the net."
Although refusing to name names he added: "There are one or two who are not wanting to take responsibility, it always seems to be someone else's fault."
Talking about the game itself he said: "We applied ourselves well in the first half but finished the game strongly, we had as many efforts as them and chased the game at the end.
"We are getting punished for small mistakes that we make and it shows the level of competition in this division is much, much better."
Forest finished the day in the relegation places but, although Calderwood is expecting a battle, he emphasized that he will have a much better idea of where in the table that battle will be after Forest have played ten games.
