Nottingham Forest boss Colin Calderwood enthused over the 'plusses' to emerge from his side's thrilling 3-2 victory over Watford.

Getting Forest's first win since returning to The Championship was all-important but there were so many more satisfying moments wrapped up in the win.

He said: "It was a fantastic game … a great advert for English football and we've come out of it smiling because we won.

"It was on a knife edge for a long time but we put in a performance that gave us a chance of winning the game. It was really pleasing."

"I think we are showing we have a fairly good foundation and we have people who have a wee bit of talent who want to go out and express themselves. They also have the perfect platform to show what ability they possess.

"Our strikers got goals today and it is very encouraging when you can call on the experience of players like Nathan Tyson and Andrew Cole from the bench. And we've also got the youth and pace of Emile Sinclair to add to the mix.

"Nathan and Andrew are just back from injury but when they get fully fit we will be a much stronger unit. It's great for me to have the options that we will have up front when everyone is firing.

"But it's also important that we can pick up points while so many of our players have been out through injury. When we were good we were excellent and the players are showing an appetite for wanting to do well."
