Macclesfield Res 0 v Forest Res 6
Nottingham Forest launched their defence of the Central League reserve title by demolishing Macclesfield.
The Reds served notice of their intentions with a 6-0 victory over the Cheshire outfit at Moss Rose.
John Pemberton's men made a whirlwind start with Emile Sinclair opening the scoring after just 52 seconds, the teenage striker capitalising on good work by Gareth McCleary before nicking the ball past goalkeeper Matt Towns.
McCleary doubled Forest's lead 18 minutes later as he fired home in emphatic fashion after beating three defenders
And it was effectively game over when Matt Thornhill made it 3-0 on the stroke of half-time with a first time finish from 10 yards out after Sinclair had crossed from the left.
Adam Newbold, fresh from scoring his first senior goal for the club in last week's Carling Cup demolition of Morecambe, stretched Forest's lead yet further 10 minutes into the second half.
Sinclair was again the architect, cutting the ball back from the left hand side to Newbold on the edge of the six-yard box who, with his back to goal, cheekily back-heeled past Towns.
Substitute Ryan Whitehurst helped himself to a goal five minutes from time, firing between the 'keeper's legs after Brendan Moloney's surging run forward had split the home side's defence.
And in added time another substitute Liam Hook rounded off the scoring with a cool finish after Sinclair had used his electrifying pace to good effect.
