Golden Award For Smith

Posted on: Wed 14 May 2008
Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Paul Smith has landed the Puma Golden Glove award for League One.

Smith kept more clean sheets than other 'keeper in the division as he helped Forest clinch promotion to the Championship in dramatic style.

The former Brentford and Southampton man claimed 25 clean sheets in all competitions - three more than Casper Ankergren of Leeds United.

In announcing the PUMA Golden Boot and Golden Glove Award winners, Lord Mawhinney, Chairman of The Football League, said: "Goalscorers and Goalkeepers are frequently the difference between success and failure in football.

"Each of these winners has made an enormous contribution to their club this season and they fully deserve this extra recognition."
