Grant Holt celebrates scoring against Bristol City

Leading-scorer Grant Holt is confident Nottingham Forest can still gatecrash the automatic promotion party in League One.

Forest are still four points adrift of second-placed Bristol City following their 1-1 draw with their main promotion rivals at Ashton Gate on Saturday.

The Reds, who are currently third, are a further four points adrift of leaders Scunthorpe with six games remaining.

But Holt, who bagged his 16th goal of the season on Saturday to give Forest an early lead over City, insists the automatic promotion issue is still a long way from being decided.

"You could see from our reaction at the final whistle on Saturday that we still feel there's a lot to play for," he said. "We left the pitch at Ashton Gate with our heads held high and not downcast because we only got a point.

"We talked all week before the City game that a point would be a good reward and that's what we got.

"We believe we've got the best run-in of all the teams chasing automatic promotion and if City or Scunthorpe slip-up, we're confident we can catch them."
