Nottingham Forest celebrate their first away win of the season and moved up the table with a confident performance against bottom of the table Plymouth Argyle.
After a bright start by Forest, Plymouth had more of the chances for a period, although they struggled to find the target. Forest finished the half strongly and were rewarded with a goal just seconds before the half time whistle.
Forest dominated much of the second half and defended their lead well while creating more chances without being able to add to their goal tally.
Forest had the first chance of the game in the fifth minute when Paul McKenna drilled in a free kick from wide left into a crowded six-yard box where Dexter Blackstock rose high to get his head to the ball but sent it over.
Superb work by Alan Gow in getting past four Forest players to cross the ball was wasted when Carl Fletcher sent the ball well wide.
And Plymouth missed a real chance from a great ball in by Karl Duguid to an unmarked Jamie Mackie who shot wide from 7 yards.
Forest were fortunate again when Mackie created a chance for himself and fired in a shot from angle. Lee Camp managed to put his right foot out to block the ball and Christ Gunter made the clearance.
Radoslaw Majewski showed what Forest have been missing when he beat his defender easily and tried a shot from the right. He had the goalkeeper beaten but it was just inches too high and landed on the roof of the net.
Forest finished the half well and were rewarded with a goal from Chris Gunter in one minute of stoppage time. He played a one-two with Blackstock as he came in from the right, controlled the ball well to get past two players and slotted it into the back of the net.
Joe Garner had the first chance of the second half when he got on the end of McKenna's free kick from the left but, under pressure from Fletcher, he mis-kicked from the centre of the penalty area and sent the ball wide.
The referee failed to allow Forest to play the advantage after a foul by Shane Lowry on Blackstock. Forest were awarded a free kick but Adebola had clearly made a run, unmarked, into the penalty area where he would have had a perfect chance to score from Blackstock's cross.
Forest dominated for long periods of the half although Plymouth thought they should have been awarded a penalty for a foul by Kelvin Wilson, who picked up an injury in the process and was substituted soon after.
As Forest continued to put pressure on the Plymouth defence, the frustration of the home supporters could be heard from all around the ground.
Plymouth had a chance when Alan Judge made a run forward unchallenged and shot from the edge of the penalty area. The ball went straight to Camp who jumped on it and gathered it up at the second attempt.
Good defending by Wes Morgan prevented another chance by the home side who, just minutes from full time, put some effort into trying to level the game.
The home crowd began to drift away during the five minutes stoppage time but Forest controlled the play well to frustrate Plymouth's efforts and take all three points.
