Nottingham Forest looked the better side and had the majority of the possession but in the end were beaten by a goal scored against the run of play.

Forest dominated play for the majority of the first half, creating a number of chances. But after Blackpool took the lead an excellent display of goalkeeping by Paul Rachubka enabled them to hold onto it.

Forest continued to push forward in the second half but Blackpool defended in numbers, making the occasional break forward. But in the end Forest could not find the final ball they needed to get what they deserved from the game.

Forest were pushing forward from the outset and if Guy Moussi's ball forward had been a bit more accurate it would have given Robert Earnshaw the chance to get a goal in the opening minutes.

Blackpool created a goalscoring opportunity when Hameur Bouazza sent the ball rocketing across the face of goal, but it couldn't find anyone and went out the other side.

Earnshaw came close, when he got away from Alex Baptiste, and Paul Rachubka had to slide out to the edge of his penalty area to get the ball off the Forest striker's toe.

Forest continued to threaten the Blackpool goal, with Moussi sending the ball to Nathan Tyson who made a great run and sent a superb cross in, but Chris Cohen's header was not strong enough and Rachubka had an easy save to make.

And a good ball from Chris Gunter from the right picked out Earnshaw, but his header also went straight to the Blackpool keeper.

As Forest continued to pull Blackpool apart Tyson tried a shot from a tight angle but Rachubka was once again there to make the ball safe.

But then Blackpool made a break and took the lead completely against the run of play. Charlie Adam got away from both Moussi and Wes Morgan and shot from the edge of the penalty area, sending the ball past Lee Camp's hand and low into the bottom of the net.

Forest were subdued for a few minutes after the goal, until the half hour mark, when Gunter produced another great cross from the right. Cohen couldn't make contact but David McGoldrick did, although he rushed the shot and sent the ball high over the bar.

Two more saves in quick succession by the Blackpool keeper kept them in the lead after Cohen beat the offside trap and found Earnshaw whose first effort was blocked. As the ball flew around the six-yard box Moussi's effort was first blocked by Rachubka. The rebound went straight to Earnshaw who saw his effort cleared off the line.

Blackpool were quickly on the attack at the start of the send half when Adam played the ball forward to Jason Euell whose effort from 12 yards was tipped round the post for a corner.

Forest threatened again courtesy of another good cross from the right but David Vaughan prevented Cohen from getting on the end of it.

And they should have equalized when Joel Lynch crossed to Tyson who sent the ball across the box to Earnshaw. He was in plenty of space, but sent the ball straight into the arms of Rachubka.

The home crowd thought Forest had finally equalized when McGoldrick was brought down inside the box and the ball broke for Earnshaw who ran alone into the box and tapped the ball in. But the linesman's flag was already up for McGldrick being offside before he went down.

Dexter Blackstock came on to replace Moussi and play up front with Earnshaw with 25 minutes of the game remaining.

With time ticking away and Forest struggling to find the target a double substitution saw Dele Adebola replace Earnshaw and Lewis McGugan come on for McGoldrick.

McGugan was influential as Forest kept the pressure on and had more of the possession. but the final ball continued to let them down.

There was a stoppage time chance for Adebola when he got clear into the box but he was closed down and his shot was blocked by Rob Edwards.
