Well, I don't really know what to do. Colin, if you didn't realise, the Forest fans are annoyed and booeing the team because we are know where near, performing as good as we used to. Colin, why are you keeping Clingan on the bench, alongside Commons? We need to maintain the level of proffesionalism that we did before, because if we don't, everyone can wave bye bye to promotion. We need to get a grip, because this isn't on, and everyone else will strongly agree with me, I'll asure you. I'm really worried about Saturday, I don't know what to expect. Last time we played Chesterfield, we easily won 4 - 0, but this time I'm worried. Colin, please put Clingan and Commons in the starting line-up, And also Agogo and Lester up front. And last thing Colin if you're reading this, before the game, talk to the lads in the changing room and explain to them how important it is that we win this game and get back to winning ways, for on course to promotion. And also explain to the team that the fans are counting on you all to win, and hopefully, we'll cheer you on at the city ground when we take on Huddersfield Town.
Good luck lads for Saturday, and especially for the rest of the season!

just wanted to say well done to ian breckin for coming out and apologising for his reaction on tuesday night to the totally uncalled for abuse that was being thrown at him. lets hope that the perpetrator of that abuse has the bottle to come out and apologise for his behaviour. i was very close to the situation as the aforesaid person sits near me, and i sincerely hope that ian and the other players do not think that we (my family) were anyway connected with such behaviour. it is totally uncalled for. passions run high but we need to pull together.
also would like to congratulate rob (from chelmsford ) for his very well considered letter, i totally agree with his comments, there does seem to be a divide appearing between some of the fans and the team, this cannot be good for the future of the club and when all said and done it is the club that matters above anything else. lets all put those differences behind us and get behind the lads., whilst we may not all agree on who should or should not play and it which formation ,they are representing the club we follow and for that reason alone we should support them come what may. here's to promotion.

I have mixed feelings about the Blackpool game and after reading the comments I wanted to add my own.
The fans: I sat in block C in the middle of the Main Stand and will like to commend the A blockers who got behind the team in the 2nd have period when we were pushing for that elusive 2nd goal.
Did not hear much from the Trent End though.
The formation: Colin has the problem of too much choice at the moment just like when Commons and Tyson came back from Injury. I have to agree somewhat with Colin NFFC_3MX on his formation and suggest putting Tyson on the right wing on his return and leave Agogo and Holt up front and even tempted to have Prutton (deep) and Jack (forward) as a CM pairing. I noted that Blackpool were a big physical side (in the main) and Perch and Gary Holt got muscled out of it. Still not sure why Clingan is on the bench...
Passing and Possesion: Good to see less hoofs up field and possesion passing amongst the back four but no imagination ar forward passes along the floor / through balls...it was so frustraing seeing the cautious approach. Even when we won free kicks they went sideways or back when in prime attacking positons.....
Shooting: On a skiddy pitch it would have been good to see a few more longs shots to test the keeper. We really could have gone in 2 nil upt at half time after Agogo hit the upright...but to be honest we would not have deserved it..
Penalties: I thought the first one was more a penalty than the 2nd..... the ref tried to even it out....well doen Bennet to at least try to put off the diver.....it nearly worked , but shame we got 2 yellow cards in the process...
result: One reflection I felt the result was fair and you have to put your hands up to the Away team. Blacppol are currently the 2nd best away team behind Yeovil...They had 2 penalty appeals and also hit the woodwork in injury time....It was an exciting and nerve wrecking game and agree with Colin we must do better. The key is getting that 2nd goal but is has failed us since the heady days off the Charlton game. We have proved we can do so we all need to get behind the boys and become the 12th man and stop all this whinging... At the end of the day we are in a promotion battle and are 1 point off automatic promotion with 13 games to play (oldham just lost again so we gained 1 point on them) ...better than last year....and if we can but a run together like a year ago I am positive we will make it

I cannot remember the last time I came away from a game feeling so thoroughly depressed and frustrated. The second half performance against Blackpool was just not acceptable.
I went down to the game with a good friend and his daughter who are both Blackpool fans, and after the game I had to agree with them that Blackpool should probably have won, even though it was definitely not a penalty.
I am afraid we have to question Calderwoods selection and tactics.Prutton playing so narrow on the right side of midfield, especially in the first half,Holt preferred to Clingan in midfield,so negative, taking a 1-0 lead and sitting back for the rest of the game to defend it,not for the first time! For gods sake were we not at home!!The final straw came when Dobie came on,changed the game,Blackpool dominated and we couldn't get out of our half.
I didn't think it could get any worse than the Megson era,but we are on a slippery slope towards it.
Desperate times, automatic promotion no chance, play offs slim chance.

When we are in the Premiership (Championship), all this misery that we are curently being subjected to will be long forgotten !
Beats me why we cannot achieve a consist performance each time we step out ? Once again my son turned to me and said those mortal words "not again" , whats going on why do we keep throwing away points ! I had no answer. All these formations that don't seem to work, bring back 5.3.2, wingers wizzing down the wings and putting the ball in, centre half that controls the game, centre forward with deadly feet ! (Sorry back to reality)
Anyway as one of our fellow suffering fans pointed out we are only 1 point off automatic promotion !
Chesterfield you are going to get played off the park. I hope.
(in the very early days I used to go to Filbert Street) maybe I should have stayed Blue !

Why, when we are so badly struggling to score goals, especially with Nathan Tyson off form and now suspended, are we letting Lincoln City have a decent young striker (not that young by the way) on loan? Spencer Weir-Daley is scoring goals every week and he is OUR player. Colin Calderwood wake up and smell the coffee. Guys like Scott Dobie who get poor ratings and NO GOALS each week should be out on loan, NOT a v ery talented player who we desperateley need. I actually rated Weir-Daley before he was even loaned out and he is now ready to score goals in the red shirt for Forest so bring him back NOW!!!

Being a Blackpool supporter and reading forests fans comments about our recent encounter,i feel compelled to write in.First and formost in all articles i have read through the years, never have i come accross supporters of a club who for want of a better phrase are so "pig headed"about their own club and the opposition.Forest fans think it is a divine right for their club to be in the top flight.all they do is moan and complain, and insult the opposition. What kind of fans winge and moan when their team are on the brink of the playoffs let alone the top two spots.and not only that want the manager sacked? We have been in the lower depths of the football league for years and this could well be our season for promotion and on the way back.I will just remind you Forest fans that it is not a divine right for you or any other club for that matter to be competing in the top flight. You are where you are on merit,in league one,and will be with fans like yours for a few more seasons.A word of advise, stop slagging your team and manager off and get behind them, then you won't get hammered by a "pub team".Blackpool dominated that game and should of come away with three points no doubt.
although we're rivals good luck for the rest of the season.

Well, I never thought I'd be the type to abandon ship but there it is. After a long season of abject negativity punctuated by the odd decent forty-five minutes of football I have decided the rest of the season can play itself out without me. The Blackpool game was the final straw. I've been a Forest supporter for over twenty years, and a season ticket Trent Ender for many of those; I've cheered on Des and Psycho, gritted my teeth as David Platt took the dugout and gasped in awe as Chappo ran the entire length of Wembley to score, but rarely have I returned home after a game in such an angry mood as I've done just lately.
I'm not going to go into the whys and wherefores or question Calderwood's tactics, nor Brekin's display at the final whistle - I'm simply saying, you know what - I've had enough.
Good luck to the fans for the rest of the season. My season ticket has gone into the hands of a young, keen friend and I hope he gets more out of it than I have this season. Play-offs or automatic promotion I'm staying away. I don't think anything will wash away the sour taste of this season. Maybe I'll see you all in August. Right now I really don't care. And that's what makes me saddest of all.
Neal - Trent Ender
Just read all the emails and you can't help but agree with just about everything that's been said. The most worrying thing is that I can't see anything changing because I'm not convinced Mr Calderwood actually knows what to do. Remember when Frank Clark resigned, I seem to recall he said something like "the ideas box is empty ". The team selection, like most people, mesmerises me. Mr Calderwood seems to need a lost cause to champion: first Harris, now Dobie and Commons can't get into a poor team even though he'll leave in the summer and walk into a Championship outfit ! The positive comments coming out of the City ground are at best misguided and at worst foolish: don't deny the obvious, we are struggling because we are not good enough. How that can be when teams like Scunny live on gates of 6 thousand, God only knows but it's a fact.
I may well get slated for this, but I can't face turning up for the home games again next season, just to see the Forest humiliated. Realistically though, that's what's in store. We haven't got a snowballs chance in hell of getting promoted on current form and forget the play-offs, we just couldn't hack it.

I can only agree with most of what has been said about the Blackpool & the other recent games, poor performance etc & strange team selections. It is the latter I really want to have a say about.
Why o why do we leave probably the best creative midfielders in the division & maybe in the Championship on the bench? Commons & Clingan are a cut above everyone in this division so why keep them on the bench, we are not that good a team to have squad rotation so what excuse can CC have?
The stats for these two playing together in league games say it all Played 13, Won 7, Drawn 4, Lost 2. The two lost games were Ley O & Donny. The first at the time may have been a one off & the latter should have been a draw had it not been for Paul Smiths blunder. These TWO are fit so please CC play them, get rid of Gary Holt to make way for one of them & with Grant suspended play Jack up front to allow for the other to play.

I have been a Forest fan for as long as I can remember and I'm 51yrs of age.
I remember going to the City Ground with crowds of 28, 29, 30 31 and even 32,000 fans plus to see a team that was full of running, full of passion and players who were playing for their place in the team.
What do I see now - still decent crowds - a testament to the followers of this great club, bearing in mind we are in the THIRD division, but I no longer see players full of running, full of passion and fighting for their first team place, all I see now are players that 'turn up for the days work', run or plod for 90 + minutes, bugger off down the tunnel at the end of the game (some of them not even acknowledging the crowd who have paid some damned hard earned money to see such crap), and then no doubt, go home, relax and think "Well, that's the mortgage paid for this month", just on the strength of that game, not worrying about how they did on the pitch, or how Mr average is going to afford to pay HIS/HER monthly mortgage payment.
I'm fed up with these people that say, "Give them time, they'll Gel together", "Get behind your team instead of slagging them off" etc, etc. I say to them, "If they went into hospital for surgery and the surgeon got it wrong or had an off day, they wouldn't say - 'Never mind, I'm sure if I came in next week, he'd have been okay or next month, I bet he's just having an off day' ! or to his local garage to fix up his car for it's forthcoming MOT and it fails 'Ah well, I suppose the mechanic was having an off day, I'll take it in again next week and see if he can fix it then', and again, part with his hard earned cash !! These players are professionals and my point being - so are the doctors, nurses, Policemen, garage mechanics, railway workers, miners etc etc, they have to get it right all of the time or the country would be in a worse state than it is - so why can't the players put a bit of bite into their play, a bit of flair into the way they play the game and a bit more passion and give something back to the loyal fans who pay their bloody wages each month !
I'm fed up to the back teeth with it and now find myself not even looking for the Reds score whenever they are playing, they are an utter disgrace. And Mr. Calderwood, if you do read these pages, then read this letter back to your team, try shaming them into playing for a change.

Yet another 300 mile round trip for nothing
You can state all you like, and I quote from comments on this site the manager is staying upbeat. "I'm still confident," he told us after completing his preparations for the visit of Blackpool.
"And the way we have played recently has reinforced my thoughts. The level of performance and the desire of the group gives me that confidence, along with the chances we've created, especially at Bradford and Brighton. I wouldn't change anything about those games apart from the results and in reality, everyone who was at those games knows we were very and away the better team in both games. We understand why we didn't collect more points at Bradford and Brighton makes me even more confident.
People who were at the Brighton game know that we deserved to win and the reasons why we lost are very, very apparent and easily sorted out. Our performances will bring points."
and on the BBC Site
"I don't know where the Forest fans get this reputation from for getting on the team's back if they're not winning, I don't see it at all. Reports about being booed off at half-time when we're drawing 0-0 are ridiculous if anything because the atmosphere is very, very positive behind the team.
It's a wee bit of a mis-reading of the situation more than anything and I think Forest fans have realistic expectations, without a doubt."
Well CC, I for one have lost all confidence in both you and the team, and just in case you are still turning a deaf ear, YES WE WERE BOOING YOU OFF AT HALF TIME AND AT THE END that kind of performance is just not acceptable
I was at both the Brighton & Blackpool game and quite honestly we dropped 5 points against two really poor sides.
Why, oh why is Clingan sitting on the bench? Have you fallen out with him? The last time I saw him play was against Chelsea and he was the only player to come out of that debacle with any sense of credit.
I was at Brighton, and we didn't deserve to win, we may have deserved a point, but only because they were totally useless, a better side would have thrashed us.
Last night against Blackpool we were outpassed throughout the game by a poor side, and only took the lead thanks to a lucky break. Without Southall, we have no width and created very few chances. Every attack looked to be the ball over the top, and whilst there was some notable periods of sideways passing, the moment we tried to go forward it all fell apart.
I am sorry but thanks a lot Ian and Gary, your sell by date has passed. Gary actually had a good game last night and put in some determined tackles and showed lots of effort, but his passing too often went to the opposition. Ian also didn't hoof the ball as much as normal, but certainly does not inspire confidence as he did last season.
So CC it's down to you, get Sammy and Luke (haven't seen him but you forked out £200k for him - not presumably to have him sat on the bench) into the side to replace Ian and Gary, get Kris into the starting line up not as a 5 minute sub. And if he's not fit re-call Bastians and give him a chance
Enough of the defensive attitude. I want you to fine the attackers if we have no one on the half way line for corners. We need to attack and attack, which also happens to be the best form of defence. We need width, if you don't see it in the squad, then get the pen out and let's get someone in. And if that is the case why did you let Nicky go?
Paul; John, Wes, Luke, Julian; David, James, Sammy, Kris; Grant, Jack (or Junior - but only until Nathan returns)
We may bounce back, but not playing as we are at the moment

Yet again our failure to score more than 1 goal costs us 2 points. Forget the penalty. If we cant finish teams off, after scoring on 16 mins then we're always open to the sucker punch. We cannot score. We have no creativity. The most effective i've seen Tyson this year was on the left against Charlton. They couldnt handle him. To be fair playing him on the left would be the only guarentee of him recieving the ball, because our midfield can never provide the service he needs. If we're not careful he'll be off to a team that can play attacking football. Sorry guys you get what you deserve & work for in this life and i think that says it all.

Tuesday night was a sad night for NFFC, and not for just the result. CC suggested to some in the Main Stand that they should shut up, Ian Breckin clearly gestured to fans in the Trent End when he left the pitch and the reaction of the crowd at the end was hostile towards the team. Each in turn felt well within their rights to do so, but if as a collective we have any designs on getting promoted this season this situation clearly cannot continue. The performance was poor last night, especially in the last 30 minutes when the team displayed little idea of how to keep hold of the ball and press Blackpool back. We displayed little flair, creativity and as previous commentators on this site have said, teams are coming to the City Ground and playing better football than we are.
However, the biggest danger comes from the increasing divide between the fans and the team. I sit in the main stand behind the dugout, and last night from the outset a number of 'know alls' were shouting at CC. Freedom of speach is fine, but the constant barrage was at best small-minded and had I been CC I would have reacted in a similar fashion. Breckin's gesturing at the end and his language as he went down the tunnel were un-necessary but is indicitive of how the team regard some of the support the club 'enjoys'. Kris Commons spent 80 minutes hearing all of the said abuse from the stands and is then expected to go on full of confidence and with no fear. This just won't happen. It'll merely has a negative effect on the whole team.
This is by no means one sided. The tactics drive me mad, the team selection is sometimes mystifying, KC and SC on the bench being one such example. The lack of deire to try and score 2/3 after going 1 up being another.Gary Holt smiling after he gave the ball away on the edge of the box that nearly led to a goal takes blood to boiling point. However, the personal and aggressive nature of some of the vocal fans will not aid the cause, nor is it welcome. The team worked bloody hard last night without ever really playing well, were the victims of an awful decision and then had their supporters turn on them when they felt low enough already. And then they're expected to turn out on Saturday at Chesterfield ready to fight for the cause again. Some of the stronger characters will, some won't.
CC is the manager this season. The players we have are now are the players that'll win or lose us all promotion. They're the ones we will reply on to go out and 'do the business' for us. So for gods sake let's stop moaning, be constructive and get behind the team no matter how difficult and can be (and it can be!!) To the Main Stand mouths SHUT UP. And to the players and the management, Jack Lester was absolutely superb last night. Effort, passion, skill. He got the standing ovation that he rightly deserved. That level of application will be recognised. If every player can walk off having given the same in each and every game, win lose or draw the crowds response will be replicated.
1 point off automatic promotion. Not too bad is it?????
Rob,
Chelmsford.
Yet another disappointing performance against Blackpool last night. We never seem to learn our lessons - the things that were wrong last night (namely, a lack of urgency from the first to the 90th minute, terrible distribution and absolutely no width) have been wrong for more than half the season. How can we talk about life in the Championship when we don't have defenders who are comfortable playing their way out of trouble? The midfield has no attacking zeal apart from the odd moment and are usually cut out of forward moves all together. When the ball gets hoofed clear of the area the defence just stands rooted to the spot, inviting the opposition straight back onto them. We look like we haven't got a single idea between us when we find ourselves in possession. We never challenge for loose or 50/50 balls - sometimes we don't even bother moving for balls that should easily be ours. When there's not a lot of quality in a side you have to chase and work for everything and Forest just don't seem prepared to do that.
Smith - nowhere near as confident and commanding as he was at the start of the season but still a good shot stopper. Thank God.
Curtis - A right back who never tackles, who's reluctant to go forward even with empty acres in front of him and can barely complete a pass.
Breckin - his captaincy seems more and more inexplicable - he treats the ball like a hot potato, hoofing it forward the minute he gets it without even looking up, which gifts possession every time. Useful in set pieces, mind.
Morgan, Bennett and Perch - clumsy, yes, but have the enthusiasm and energy necessary at this level.
Gary Holt - liability on and off the ball. Used to think he did a job of sorts but he's getting less, rather than more, accomplished.
Clingan - doesn't produce international quality every week but better than Holt by a long chalk.
Prutton - getting better all the time, would like to see him looking for space more often but as he's only got Curtis to work with half the time who can blame him for not bothering?
Commons - not getting enough time on the pitch but has a tendancy to try and do too much when he does. We've needed his hero-complex at times though, he should be starting.
Grant Holt - should be playing in the traditional centre forward role, as a target man, instead of having to fill the space out wide that the midfield doesn't get into.
Lester - hardest worker on the pitch; like Morgan, Bennett and Perch, he actually seems to care.
Tyson - silly sending off, can't wait to have him back.
Dobie - doesn't really seem to have a role beyond "fresh legs".
Agogo - works hard when it suits him but still more effective than Dobie.
I can't work out if there are just too many square pegs in round holes or what. It's easy for the manager to brush off supporters' complaints when we manage to hold on but we've stopped doing that now. Things need to change because one thing's for sure: even if we stay down they'll put the season ticket prices up and I'm sick of watching this negative, clueless football at the current price.

Agggh! Isn't life as a Forest fan interesting? Now I'm not usually one to air my views but felt the time was right. 7 points clear, now down to fourth having only gained 12 points out of a possible 39. When watching the scores come through last night I was quietly optimistic that we would brush aside Blackpool. When I saw Agogos name come through on the score sheet, I was hoping second spot would be ours if other results went our way. However I then checked the teamsheet I couldn't help but have those worries which I have been experiencing for the past few months now.
I just want to start by saying that I think Mr Calderwood has done a good job since he arrived. To me he seems a fair manager who comes across well, who has tried to give each of the players a fair crack of the whip. To call for his head at this stage would be ridiculous and I would go as fair as saying even if we didn't get promotion this season stick with him as we as a club more than anything require stability. He seems to have a clear view as to what he wants and expects, is gradually introducing his own players and will get us out of this league. We as Forest fans have huge expectations and rightly so. I expect a result from Forest every week and am more than disappointed if we don't get it. But we must remember this isn't an easy division to get out of, we are facing teams that will try their utmost to stop us from playing our game week in week out. We must also remember the manager has had to introduce his own style but at the same time get rid of the hoof style tactics that we fondly remember from the Megson era, which I still feel is apparent with some players.
My main point being though is that I have become a little frustrated with team selections of late. As a team we are very limited in terms of our creativity and have been for a while. Whilst I didn't rate Southall, as a winger he had no pace and couldn't beat a defender. But he could produce a great cross from the wing, which we are lacking.
With Commons still seemingly unfit as he isn't starting we only have creativity through the centre of the field, which is still lacking. We seem to be playing with 2 defensive minded central midfielders in Perch and Holt.
Now Perch, I can see why the manager would pick him. He can put a tackle in, works hard and gets around the field. But with a defensive midfielder you need someone who will get forward i.e Carrick and Scholes. Please Mr Calderwood, Gary Holt has to be dropped for the next game. Whilst I don't doubt he is good professional I can only think that in training he works hard and therefore is rewarded with a place in the team every week. I feel we must be playing our most effective players. Clingan has to play in centre midfield in the holding role, he has a good passing range and hurries the opposition, can pick up the ball from the defense and control a game. In defense we sign Chambers who is obviously rated very highly but is not getting a start. He must come in for either Curtis or Brekin. Now Commons is back he should start on the left, even if only 80% fit he is one of our players that can create something out of nothing, something we are short of.
At the beginning of the season I didn't have Lester in my starting line up, but he seems to be a different player over the past few games and provides an excellent link between the midfield and attack and weighs in with a few goals.
Up front whilst Tyson is out I feel Agogo and G Hoult need to start, there are goals in both of them. With only a bit of tinkering I think we will have a team that will win promotion this season (automatically), I am just glad we are having our blip now and not at the end of the season and hope that the manager is bold enough to make a few key changes when things aren't working.
My team for the Chesterfield game: LB Bennett CB Brekin CB Morgan RB Chamber LM Commons Holding Clinghan RM Prutton AM Lester FW Agogo FW G Holt. (Would personally add Smith as I think we need a GK - ed)
As fans we need to support the team as this is a good an opportunity as any to get back to the Championship. I'm confident we can do it this season and the future is looking bright with a number of our young players proving their worth out on loan. The players just need to be more confident in their ability and to cut out the silly mistakes.
Best of luck to the team and management this season, it would be interesting to know if management and players alike took time to read these pages because as a whole they should know there is belief from the fans that success is ahead and that we do have faith.
From a very quietly confident Forest fan.

I've just heard the interview with CC regarding the Blackpool game - or I least I think it was!!
I listened to CC telling us that the opposition had made us defend for long periods, that they had controlled possetion, that they passed and kept the ball better than us, that they dominated midfield and caused us lot's of problems all over the pitch
He continued to say that we were forced back by a good side and that we could do nothing about it ! well I for one Mr Calderwood have some rather startling news for you! We were in fact not playing a leading championship or average premier league side after all - it was (no disrespect) Blacpool FC of the (wait for it) THIRD DIVISION!
Now am I and the thousands who sit near me missing something here but, should we not be at the very least competing and matching these teams like for like, especially at home surely!
Management and fans alike will note that, at any level of football, a 1-0 lead is never going to be enough, especially if you play with the tactics employed by CC, which is to somehow get a lead then defend deeper and deeper for longer and longer, whilst hoisting long balls foreword in the general directions of the front two, who are supplied themselves with no wing feed and a midfield sitting on the laps of our back four!
I'm afraid to say it but the football recently home and away is becoming embarrassing, our opposition fans laugh and mock us and our manager is every bit as negative in his tactics as was Mr Megson.
We DO have some good and gifted players but being asked to perform in this style of play will never see us to promotion, if it does Scunthorpe, Bristol & Oldham will have imploded themselves.
Holt v Dobie - no contest
Wingers v 4 3 3 - no contest
Full Backs v Wing Backs - no contest
Defend High v Defend Deep - no contest
Attack v Defend a lead - UP TO YOU CC!
Remmember the flowing passing attacking under Paul Hart...... I do!

I like many Forest Fans am becoming a little bit worried by our alarming drop in form! They last 14 games have produced 14 points and this is just not acceptable. I was and have been very supportive of Colin Calderwood but I must say some of the decisions he has made recently really do worry me. Why are we not playing our best players? We have Chris Commons and Sammy Clingan on the bench while Gary Holt who in my opinion has been our worst player this season gets 90 minutes every week! This team is crying out for some flair and creativity and by having these two players on the bench we don't play to our strengths. Lets have them in the side and also see what Chambers can do, why buy him not to play him? No wonder Forest fans have sore heads, its banging it against the brick wall all the time that does it!

Firstly I will not appologise for my views because like many a supporter I put my hard earnt money into this club and expect a return from it.
Last night was another inept performance from a team that appears to be struggling for form and is devoid of any attcking ideas.
Mr Calderwood appears to have lost his way and his team selections have tested even the die-hardest of supporter. This has all the hallmarks of the Mr Megson era and look at what we had to suffer with him.
I hate to say this but we are nothing more than an average 3rd division side and we no loger command respect from other teams. We have been found out and on this current form we will be lucky to finish mid table.
The club is stale and lacks any ambition, maybe this is the fault of the man who holds the purse strings?
Forget what has gone before that is history we are now in the 21st century and should be building for the future unfortunately we appear to be stagnated while other teams in the division have caught us up.
For the sake of this great club and the supporters employ someone who is attck minded and is not content to sit back and defend one goal leads.

Yet again we struggle at home to overcome a team we should be wiping the floor with. How many more games is this going to go on for. Certainly can't see us winning at Chesterfield. We have no fighting spirit, no leader, and worse of all no goalscorer. Tyson hasn't been the same this season, Agogo is as bad as what Stern John was when we signed him and Dobie should be got rid of. We need to bring in some creativity in midfield, and someone who knows where the net is if we are to achieve promotion. Surely between CC and Pleat they have good enough contacts to bring those in. What about Sheringham til the end of the season? CC use to play with him at Spurs and he is doin nothing at West Ham. He should return to Forest. Danns would be good, he certainly scored many for Colchester. We really need a clean out this summer, especially Dobie, Gary Holt and possibly even Commons should go. He is over rated, over weight and injury prone and provides nothing.
I believe we are definitely still in the promotion race, but things need to change sooner rather than later and even when we have won, its been through gritted teeth!! I wasn't impressed with the CC appointment and nothings changed. Even if we did go up, we would be lucky to survive in the Championship playing how we play with the players we have.

Mr Calderwood continues to baffle me with his tactics, I cannot understand for the life of me why (cc) puts The best Centre Midfielder in the league on the Right (Prutton), One of our Players of the Year (Perch) who is predominantly Right Footed but put on the LEFT, And arguably our best Player (Commons) left on the bench when arguably our least able player (Holt) is expected to hold the fort in one of the most vital of roles in the pitch Centre Midfield. now I'm sure that I am not the only one that can see Commons on the Left, Prutton in the Middle and Perch on the right makes far more sense than trying to stick Square Pegs in round Holes.
This is just one obvious solution to improve our level of performance without really scrutinising any other areas on the pitch, I like many other supporters are beginning to question whether we are fourth in the league despite Mr Calderwood not because of Him.
Ian (Trentender.)
well what can i say about the blackpool match 1st half both teams were poor and after a even 1st half we sneaked in 1-0 up both teams go into the break for there team talks. they come out. blackpool come out up for it getting plenty of possesion and having a go at us as expected.we come out tired and disorganised not nowing what to do. the midfield disapeared. after a hour i expected to see clingan and commons brought on to put energy in midfield and chambers to replace brechin who looked old and tired but no cc left it till 10 mins till the end to make a change.on recent performances we wont go up.with 2 new signings coming in at the end of feb we better hope there superman and spiderman or i see another season in league1 players leaving again at the end of the season and rebuilding yet again lets hope im wrong.

Well after last night's disappointment I have finally accepted that its play offs for us and frankly that is all that this team & manager deserves - although us loyal fans deserve so much more. The players & management do not seem to be learning any lessons from previous games. How many times have we scraped 1-0 wins at home (Bristol City, Yeovil, Northampton) by scoring then sitting back deeper and deeper, inviting teams to come at us instead of us TAKING THE INITIATIVE and driving them back with the intention of scoring more goals. At 2 or 3 nil up we aren't going to be bothered about last minute penalties (although I have to say that the decision and overall performance from the ref was the most inept I have seen all season!)
I know this has been said many times before (and I don't like to single out players individually) but what exactly does Gary Holt contribute to the team? He is slow and never seeks to move forward (first instinct is always to go back!) - we cannot afford to have this type of defensive midfielder next to another defensive midfielder (perch), not when arguably our best midfielder - Clingan is warming the bench. And we certainly should not be doing this at HOME when it is down to US to take the game to the opposition.
There may be hard work and endeavour from some players but the fact is we have no creativity, no ideas, no defence splitting passes (no wonder Tyson is getting so fed up with the lack of service he is turning to his namesakes sport instead!) and no penetration.
There is also a lack of urgency and we just knock square and backward passes around in a very predictable way.
I'm sorry to say we simply are NOT GOOD ENOUGH to get out of this league and every time one of our rivals loses (e.g. Oldham at Port Vale last night) we fail miserably to capitalise every time.
I totally understand my fellow fans frustrations and exasperation at some of the decisions being made - its not much fun being a forest fan at the moment, but whilst all we can do is rally and support what are the players and mangement going to do to sort it out? I for one am sick and tired of excuses and 'positive' spins - IT IS TIME TO STAND UP AND BE COUNTED - WE WANT ACTION NOT MEANINGLESS WORDS!!!!

Through the medium of Fan Talk I would ask the following questions of CC
When we are winning and well on top why do we upset the rhythm of the team by making a substitution. surely if we are winning and the 11 players on the field are picked to do a job then to change the personnel for just the sake of it is unnecessary.
Secondly I cannot remember a time when Scott Dobie has had an influence on a game when coming on as a substitute. Grant Holt is streets ahead of Scott so why the change.

If Forest were to have a School-like report, it would no doubt read something like this...
Super benefactor (Ever thankful for his generosity and support), but his skills at business success have failed him in football management, where his chosen people have continued to under-achieve.
The Football Manager is naive -- unable to choose the right tactics, pick the right players, and continuing to delude both himself and the fans with a PR spin, which is insulting to the many people that understand the game.
The lack of skills shows up the wrong tactics, filling the midfield with no creativity, no desire to take responsibility, and now resulting in two thirds of the team who back off, cannot mark tight on any of the attackers, cannot tackle, and as a result invite pressure from the opposition, who will relish possession.
The team includes too may players who lack ability and lack form; Smith should be nicknamed Dracula as he hates crosses, and shows no desire to command his goal area; Breckin, Gary Holt, and Dobie are not good enough; Perch, Prutton, and Gary Holt lack form and need to put in some extra training; and this leaves only Curtis, Bennett, Morgan and Lester carrying the rest of the team. Why the manager continues to leave out quality players like Clingan is a mystery; and he needs to blood one or two of the younger payers now (example being how well Weir -Daley is playing at Lincoln).
I said at the turn of the year, that the Forest Board should read the signs and act now --well we are now down to a bunch of players who lack guile, lack creativity, and too often, too many of the players show us the lack of qualities - next to no confidence, will not take on any responsibility, and where oh where is the pride and the leadership!
My fear, our fear, is that Forest will not learn, and as a result will be in this division much longer that we all hoped -- Come on the Forest Board do not duck your responsibility as managers, show us some leadership, face up to reality and lets see some action, (which does not mean giving us more of the spin), tell us what you are going to do to get the team back into shape!

O dear it looks like CC could be losing the fans when this happens we will have no chance CC YOU NEED TO BE BRAVE commons, clingan chambers (although we have never seen him play) may-be spencer weir 3 goals in 2 games for Lincoln (scott dobie 3 goals never in a million years) or bastians. Should be in the team now when fit not on loan or on the bench not just on merit, but the fact that hopfully they are the future young players of this club and not in their last years of pro football tactics & personal need to be changed NOW may be a loan player on the left. The Blackpool game felt like a loss we play like the away team at home all defence and on the break if we are lucky lets play like we did with charlie & frank the mutterings are there CC YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

Is it just Colin Calderwood who does not see the common denominator of our recent bad run (4 league victories in 12) which is Gary Holt being restored to the side? I have nothing personal against Gary Holt and I do believe he gives 100% effort, however, football is about retaining the football, and I am afraid that Gary Holt is abject at this part of the game! Sammy Clingan is now a fully fledged International central midfielder who can't even get into a side who are quiet frankly playing very poor football. Once again we were dominated by a side last night who should have really been 'seen off' if we have any real hope of automatic promotion. Our midfield should be Commons Clingan Prutton Perch for each and every game they are fit.
I still believe we will gain automatic promotion (because apart from Scunny, the rest are as bad as us!) with the key run of games being four homes games coming up in five outings. If I had a Crystal Ball and we ended up winning a play off final in Cardiff, I would take this option as opposed to coming second. Then again, if we all had Crystal Balls (the male Forest Fans), we could all see when we were coming!
Believe - as bad as we are, I still do!
Red Russ
Once again another inept display.
Surely we should be pressuring teams at the CG and going for the win which begs the question why Commons and Clingan are substitute and Gary Holt and Bennett start.
I see once again Grant Holt has drifted into his shell when we need him most knowing he is undropable whilst Tyson is out and why of earth did we pursue Chambers so vehemently if all he was going to be was a substitute. I thought we bought him to strengthen the team not to chat to Colin about his Northampton days on the bench during a match.
I was disappointed last night to lose the late goal but what really upset, incensed and angered me was our so called Captain Breckin.
At the end of the game when a proportion of the home fans booed (in my opinion as much as at not getting the 3 points as much as at the poor tactics employed by our manager) resulting in Ian Breckin swearing and making rude hand signals to the fans.
Now he did a similar thing last year to the fans when we were away to Tranmere and surely as a captain he should understand the pressure involved in the job and the high expectations of the fans at Nottingham Forest.
I have never booed a Nottingham Forest team or a display in the 26 years I have been a fan (and this is one of the worst teams I have seen in that time) so I do not appreciate that over the hill hoofer shouting profanities and make rude hand gestures to me after a 6 hour round journey from London to watch the game and considerable expense.
This action was witnessed by hundreds of fans and has been discussed all loads of the fans forums so it is well documented and I want to know what the club are going to do about it?
He should be stripped of the captaincy and thrown out of the club he is a useless defender anyway but as per usual we have sold the cover we had in Cullip so no doubt he will be an automatic selection away to Chesterfield Saturday.
Enough is enough and without loan players I feel we will struggle to make the play-offs

Sorry Colin but if every game is going to be a case of hope for a goal and then sit on the 18 yard line en masse in an atempt to defend it I'm done. Sure I've paid for my season ticket so I've lost that money, but I don't have to lose anymore nights or afternoons when I could be doing something enjoyable.
It isn't about divine rights to go up or false expectations. I want to watch an entertaining game of football in which Forest attack and try to create chances. If we lose then fair enough, at least we tried. What I cannot abide is this constant negativity to our play. It is no wonder that the crowd ends up being negative too.
Good luck for the rest of the season, I'm not planning on being there to see it.
Trent End View.
Spot the familiar pattern?
- Colin makes changes by bringing on subs at Bradford, Brighton and now Blackpool and in all 3 games we go downhill in the second half and concede goals.
- As a team we have not scored a single goal all season with Scot Dobie on the pitch
- We haven't finished a game with the same 11 who started it
Colin, I've an idea why not start with your best team rather than making changes - or do you still not know what it is?
Clingan & Commons should be on the pitch, accommodate Chambers otherwise why buy him, play with wingers (oh sorry I forgot you let our only proper winger leave and you are now paying for it (i.e. Southall).
I went to Brighton and was sat right near the away dugout - the Brighton fans around me were delighted when you took Grant Holt off he was the only one causing any problems, then 1 minute later they score.
As I said earlier - spot the pattern and sort it out...

I find this current dismal run slightly hard to take, last season was understandable we were the big team which everyone tried there hardest against and we struggled to find a way to play against this negative reaction. However this season is different, we have the experience & the manager who knows what playing in this division is all about and how to achieve results.
I was delighted with the start and the first half of the season, but what has gone wrong, we are slipping slowly, but surely down the table and automatic promotion is now begining to look like a four way battle for 1 place with Scunthorpe taking the other. I know we have to play them & Bristol City, but both games are away & after the 4-0 drubbing by Scunthorpe earlier this season and on TV!!!! i fear that worse could be in store at there place as they are the form team.
The only saving grace is that the other teams are not winning either, but i do not support them and am only concerned with a team that in early December looked odds on certainty to go up, and now have the air of a team who are not sure what to do.
A defeat & draw to a couple of mediocre mid table sides in the last 3 days, on top of the run of results since xmas is not the prelude for a promotion run as Colin Calderwood has stated on the BBC web site.
Since the abject defeat to Chelsea, we have had a run of 1 win, 2 draws and
2 loses, not i suggest the form of promotion candidates, when we were top after the first half of the season we had lost 5 games out of 23, we already have 3 defeat in 10 games since, another telling factor, the City Ground may be a 'fortress' according to Colin Calderwood, but we have 3 wins and 3 draws, Scunthorpe on the other hand have had 5 wins and 1 draw, and away from home we have lost 3 & drawn 1, they on the other hand have a win ( at
Swansea) and 3 draws. This says to me not enough care and commitment from the team, no passion to make sure we do not lose.
If any other team but us gets on a Scunthorpe type run, then the play offs beckon and that is not how this great club should be going about getting from Div 1 to the Championship.
Colin is talking a good game at the moment, but i have yet to see it on the pitch, yes you could say we were unlucky last night against Blackpool, but they should not be able to get a draw with the last kick of the night, we should have had the game buried.
GOALS that is the problem, we are not scoring enough, 7 in the last 10 games, and only 31 in the first half of the season, even Rotherham who are bottom of the division ( ok give them there 10 points back and they would be 3rd bottom) have scored more than us, that is a disgrace, maybe if the strikers were paid by the goal instead, then i suggest we might have a better goal record.
I could go on for several pages, but why waste my time, i first started following this team in December 1976, 30 years on we are trying to get back where we were then in the 2nd division....
I think that say it all.

The previous 12 league matches have produced just 13 points. If extrapolated backwards to the start of the season this rate of return would currently see us in a relegation place. Somehow we have gone from runaway promotion form to a 12 game spell of relegation form.
I believe the 7 point lead we had at the top of the table flattered us. The confidence built with a good start to the season carried us successfully through many an average performance. However the winning habit has gone and with it the confidence.
Like many fans I believe to remain in this division another year would be a disaster. However there is nothing to be gained by turning our frustration on the team or the manager. That won't help turn things around and get us out of this truly awful league. So retain the faith until things are decided for certain one way or the other.
Every cloud has a silver lining... we're fourth, if we ever make it to the Premiership, fourth won't be possible as the top four places are reserved.
Mark Simons
first of all i would like to say what a dissapointing result tonights match was, but above all that i was more dissapointed with the reaction of the crowd. whist agreeing that the performance was not good, no one deserves such vitriol being thrown at them. we are only going to make it harder for the players to perform if we carry on like last night. i am afraid that the fear factor has crept into the players game, poor old luke chambers sat on the bench must wonder what he has let himself in for. calling for the managers head will achieve nothing, we have to rally round and pull together. the old saying , united we stand ,divided we fall comes to mind. lets look to picking up three points on saturday and seee where we go from there
mandy (trentend)
I knew CC wouldn't learn the lesson he should of learned against Northampton because we won that one. But I was rather hoping that the lesson would've been learnt after Brighton... clearly it hasn't!
Calderwood's team likes to get a goal... and there's no urgency about when it comes by the way... and then sit on the damn thing for all eternity! Tonight was like watching a Gary Megson team, and for all the vision and idea's shown by CC, it may as well have been. Its now looking as though CC was riding the wave started at the end of last season by Charlie and Frank! Now the tide has clearly turned and Forest are bereft of ideas and passion. We grabbed a lucky goal, much as we did against Northampton -albeit a little earlier - and then attempted to weather a storm of our own making.
Did Oldham or Scunthorpe decide that a one goal lead against us was enough? The 4 and 5 goal drubbings we got from them suggest not... and it is the ruthless killer instinct that these teams are showing that will ensure that they are the teams most likely to get automatic promotion this season.
Forest need to get that early lead and then mercilessly rip the opposition apart - mind, body and soul. Forest and CC need to get nasty - and damn quick - because, at present, this manager is being exposed as a bigger joke than my beloved football team... and thats a fair old joke at the moment.
Leeds United must be looking at us and saying, I hope that that doesn't happen to us... and if they do come down, this division is going to get a whole lot more difficult to get out of!
Once again it feels as though we're becoming the laughing stock of this division... I'm not sure CC is the right man for this job after all!
CC can claim that we were "unlucky" to concede a controversial penalty against Blackpool, or that we were beaten "in two minutes" against Brighton but the fact of the matter is we just WEREN'T GOOD ENOUGH!
We need fresh players and fresh ideas... FAST... otherwise we'll need a fresh manager - I pray for the first two rather than the latter! Wake up Colin!
Kofeh
Well, over the past few weeks or so I have been trying to defend CC & the players. But after tonights performance against Blackpool I am struggling to do this anymore.
What an abject performance & on par with anything Megson served up for us.
Can anybody please tell me what the formation of the midfield is? Because the players don't know & it appears to be getting worse. I wonder if the manager is too frightened to drop some of the players or is just found wanting in the tactical / formation department. the players should be ashamed of themselves for that performance, & at home!!!!
Yes we are still 4th in the league but the performances of individuals & style (termed loosely) of football being played, is a disgrace. What a joy it was to see fast, passing; attacking; flowing football with people attacking the space in front of them, driving forward & so committing people from the opposition, so making more space. SHAME IT WAS OPPOSITION PLAYING THIS KIND OF FOOTBALL. Seems to be a re-occurring theme here.
Sorry to say Mr Calderwood, you need to change your tactics. Start playing wingers & commit the team to attacking football. Have a look at match stats from BBC website. Played off the park, as it definitely felt while watching. Even though the penalty was dodgy, it was coming for most of the match so we should thank our lucky stars for hanging onto a draw (the mind boggles).
Got our tickets for Huddersfield match. Hmmm loyalty knows no bounds............. for now.
Come on Mr Calderwood, give us some attacking entertaining football we can cheer & get behind. Most of the opposition we play can, so take a leaf out of their book; hey
ADW
Sorry, this is just not good enough. I am sorry Mr Calderwood, I said after the Northampton game, the team had been out played, well it is happening too often now. Maybe outplayed may seem harsh, but, the reality is we are being "Out thought" and "Out Fought" by lower teams and yes I do say lower teams! So yes maybe "Out played" is the correct terminology? Before everyone goes on about living in the past etc. I have been watching Forest since 1965, which has included a lot more bad years than good years! This team reminds me of the team of the early 70s lots of promise, but, no end product?
If you intend to be a Manager, whether it is here or at any other football club, then it is time that you stood up and made tough decisions. We as supporters have listened to, all the excuses in the world over the last couple of months, bad luck, dominated the game, played well, unlucky etc. etc. You do not lose a 7 point lead at the top of the league and then end up another five points on top of that as well, behind that team, without learning that some of the players you have are not good enough and should be either shipped out or dropped and maybe You should accept that your tactics are wrong and that they need to be changed?
I am not being fun when I say, believe it or not you have my support, but, please learn from your mistakes and stop carrying on with them. It is like watching the addicted gambler, continuing to play the fruit machine, believing his luck will change! It changes when you stop gambling!
If you have targets to bring in to freshen up the team, then do it now! Forget about having them available for the "play offs" because if they are as good as you think, then you will have done it automatically already, so the play offs will not be required!
I have just have never felt so exasperated as I do at this moment in time with a Nottingham Forest team, I just hope the Manager can stand up and not put that £1.00 in the fruit machine?

I am writing yo express my real fears that we will be lucky to make the play offs this season under calderwood. I truly believed that if we won against Brighton then we still had an outside chance of putting together a good run for a push towards promotion, we lost the game but I made excuses for the manager acknowledging that we played for a large portion of the game with 10 men and were away from home. However I still felt a good performance and 3 points against Blackpool followed by consecutive wins could still result in pushing the two top teams for promotion by the end of the season. Surely tonights game was a perfect chance to chop some of the dead wood out of the first team and by playing the best 11 for as many of the games left of the season. Firstly I find it hard to put into words my frustration with Calderwood for continuing with gary holt. I am sure in his hey day he was a good pro but the player I have watched for forest just does'nt cut it in terms of quality on the ball, pace, passing or even breaking up play. Why is Clingan not in the 1st team? Clearly he is the better option of the two. And secondly our defence is truly one of the worst i have seen at the city ground for nearly 20 years (and that is saying something). Why not play chambers? Is he not good enough? Then why buy him? If he is then play him either instead of curtis or wes morgan. Anyway it feels like a real chance lost this season to climb out of this division, being 7 points clear (admitedly with a large chunk of luck) and with a good squad of players. Just a shame the best 11 have not been consistently played this season with 8 or 9 having to carry the odd one or two sub standard ones. Lets keep our fingers crossed for a play-off place and who knows with our best players in the 1st team there could still be light at the end of this season.
Matt Naylor
So it's looking more and more likely we will be in the play-offs. Tonight's match was thrown away, we were seconds from going 2nd. Instead we sit proudly behind Yeovil.
If it's to be the play-offs, the only advantage to be had is that we have beaten all the teams in the playoffs at some point this season and if its to be the play-offs, I dont want us to finish in unlucky 3rd place.
Roll on Chesterfield and a long-awaited 3 points.
Adele McGuinness
What a joke this is - again we throw away points at home, and in the end were lucky to get the 1 point against Blackppol - this is terrible!
I saw this coming way back in October, even though we started the season so well, we weren't in control of any of our games. At Christmas, I predicted we will not be top of the leage for much longer, and that the way things are going - we would be lucky to get a playoff place.
Let's be honest, even if we get to the playoffs - we're not going to be good enough to go up, not again the likes of either Oldham or Bristol City.
We have shot oursleves in the foot once again - too much expectation! Certainly the way we started the campaign - everyone thought we were going to walk this league, and now the fact that we're going to struggle to get into the playoffs, the disappointment in 10 fold.
We need to realise the facts, we are just a mediocre 3rd Division football team - what a sad state of affairs.

I travelled up to Forest for the game against Northampton. I was shocked at how bad we were.
There is no way Forest deserve their position in the table, it was embarrassing. Then Colin Calderwood says on the radio that he was pleased.
How many times will Gary Holt play badly before they get rid ? Why is Sammy Clingan not on the pitch ? Colin Calderwood must be kidding himself and us.
Surely Forest fans aren't going to settle for that crap. Then he keeps taking off the hard working and influential Gran Holt and puts on Scot Dobie, why? He takes off Lester and Grant Holt, everything falls to pieces.
Then he does the same against Blackpool. It's time Dobie, Gary Holt, John Curtis moved on. The Academy players should be played instead.
I don't think Colin Calderwood recognises a poor performance, he must want another season in League 1, if we went up this year we'd come straight back down. We're no better than last season. Time to start worrying Colin, I'm not fooled because I've seen real football at the City Ground.

it pains me to say this being a long and disappointed forest fan but after tonights match i think it time for colin calderwood to start kick the players into touch or show them the door becasue its clear to see that without some serious changes this team is going no where fast for the simple reason we cant play for a full 90 minutes and we are let stupid goals in and losing to clubs that we should be wiping the floor with come on lads get your act together and do some thing about it for the fans becasue without us your nothing?
