Hello everyone
Nice to see we are all having a bit of friendly banter for a change.
I know i am stating the obvious about us having to win the last two games to make things definite BUT i hope we dont finnish fourth or fifth from bottom, cus when southampton appeal against there points deduction it is going to bring more teams into the mellay, just imagine if they got there points back and other teams were relegated then the other teams around them would have to spend money on legal fees to challenge the reversal rather than on much needed players, and that is the last thing we need. Sorry for thinking out loud.
Onwards and upwards
COME ON YOU MIGHTY REDS

Phil of the forest faithful

Hi all.
I have been reading what everyone has put on here the last few days and i just want to say are we not all supporting the same team anymore. We finally take a step towards safety and world war 3 brakes out between the forest fans and how we play football. Its an emotional game and i for 1 will literally cry if we get ralagated. I cant face life in league 1 again so any type of football will do for now. I personally think a point against Blackpool will do(can anyone see Norwich beating Reading) and that will mean we are safe. In which case, WHEN, NOT IF, WHEN that happens i think we should rest the first team players for the game at Southampton with neither team having anything to play for from this Saturday and not risk any long term injuries. The reserves have a good team haven't they. Give a few of them a chance and boost their confidence for next season. You never know we may be using some of them next year. We wont have anything to lose will we (providing we do get safe this weekend). I heard Reid is a great provider of goals and with bencheriff and maloney at the back with maybe breckin and chambers and gamble in goal we stand a good chance of beating an already relagated side.
Finally another season in the CCC and the odds for us to get promoted to the prem next season are going to be very high so im going to have a cheeky £10 on it. I think with a couple of good signings in the summer (Lee Camp, Dextor Blackstock) i will be making myself some money. You'll remember me saying this this time next year and wonder how much i won.
Sorry if i've bored anyone.
UP THE REDS!!!!!!!!

Ad - West Mids

I would just like to pass on my best wishes to the team on Saturday, lets hope we can get the win to hopefully secure our position in the CCC for another year.
I also need to eat a little humble pie after voicing my concern about the manager publically criticising the players at the beginning of the year, and how it could lose the dressing room. Well it hasn't happened, but it is also evident that he now only seems to praise them in public, so...
To all those that are criticising the first half performance against Coventry, you do need to get real. I can remember many games under BC where we were absolutely atrocious and could not pass the ball 2 yards to one another never mind play flowing football. Things have moved on a lot since those days, and now more than ever you have to fight to earn the right to play football, yes it is ugly at times but when the opportunity arises to pass the ball around we do appear to have the confidence; technique and will to do so.
It must be acknowledged that we have made ourselves a lot harder to break down and beat. Take the whinging from Sheffield United as compliment after the way we nullified them to pumping aimless long balls into our half of the pitch. If we can do this to the masters of gamesmanship and cheating, it bodes well for the future. All successful clubs have a cynical, hard side to them and that includes Forest in their heyday (Kenny Burns; Larry Lloyd; Archie Gemmell et al). The omens are good, and if we stay up, the coming years are going to be very exciting for all concerned with the club.

ADW

John Rider -
Oh I have been waiting for a justified response, I knew I could trust you on that.
I just felt that your message was "doom and gloom" when actually the last few games have been very positive.
Yes I agree if we take a season long look at our defence it suggests we have been poor, but at the moment the opposite has been true, and when you consider the number of changes that had to be made prior to and during the game at Bramall lane, to get a clean sheet was a top achievement.
Perch and BD are right to criticise their first half performance, because they want to show you and I that they are much better than this. But the fact remains we kept a clean sheet with (I think) the highest number of loan signings over a 3 month period we have ever seen.
Assuming we stop up (should I really be tempting fate?) what areas of the team do you think we should improve?
Also what players would you like to see arrive at Trentside for next season (Robinho, Lampard, Gerrard et al are exempt)
I hope you are not grumpy this weekend.

david - exiled in derby

I wholeheartedly agree with Rowen Udell1s comments about what are true fans. I was born in Kent in 1950, my father and his family moving there from Nottingham to work. From the age of 2 I was bought up with Nottingham Forest as preached by my dad. My bedroom walls coverered in pictures of Forest players. I remember well my father going to the 1959 cup final and not coming home till the end of the following week, still inebreated. Living in Kent and London the stick I took from school and friends about "why do you support Forest was merciless, paricuarrly as everyone else supported ManUnt etc. But I defended my team because they were part of me and my family, not just a fancy team with star players who won everything. That is what I call a supporter. The only matches I could get to were those when Forest played in London but that didnt mean I was any less a supporter than those who could get to the City ground every week. Forest are in my blood.
I have now moved to Lincolnshire which now gives me the opportunity to see my beloved Reds on a regular basis which could not be better.
I remember when we played Arsenal at Highbury in the League winning year (We lost 3-0) and the programme asked for people to join the London/South Nottingham Forest supporters club. Forest supporters can be anywhere but its where their heart is that matters.
Lets hope we make ourselves safe this weekend because I want to see us against Southampton playing stress free.

Roy Holt

Oh dear. I seem to have upset David-- exiled in Derby.
Well David I can only contribute to this site as I see things. Interestingly though many others agree with me that our performance in the first half against Coventry left a lot to be desired. In fact If you listened to Mr Perch after the game he said the gaffer gave everyone a rollicking at half time for such an inept performance. So Billy agrees with me as well!
David --you appear to have missed the point I made re 5 aside football. Basically we let them play that way and run the show rather than closing them down and gaining control ourselves. Come the second half after BD`s dressing down It was a different game altogether.
As far as our defensive performances?----Just take a look at our goal difference. Hope it doesn`t count a week on Sunday!
Thanks for your comments re my apparent ability to apply for the managers job. Well David I too enjoy a bit of humour as you will no doubt have read in my earlier articles. According to my wife the only time I`m known as Mr Grumpy is when I read the Sunday paper following a poor Forest result.
Sorry David if my views touched a sore point with you. Rest assured though I will continue to cheer the Reds on and give praise when its due. I trust you will do just the same?

John Rider Cheerful Old Timer Worksop

I wrote at the start of the season that we would stay up if we kept out of adminstration. It's been a while coming but I think Southampton have seen us right. There could even be more cases where clubs have manipulated the financial relationship between a holding company and the football-playing company to keep the latter afloat. If those cases come out in the closed season and the FA send in their forensic accountants to find there has been jiggery-pokery, maybe some promotions and relegations could be reversed.
I'm surprised to see it's taken this long for there to be casualties out of the Sea of Red engulfing the UK (that's the bad financial crisis, not a blossoming of Forest fans, worse luck). Pity only that Mr Doughty has donated 1 million to the Labour Party to keep that Red Ship afloat rather than putting it all into our one.
Great performance second half on Saturday (I seem to have forgotten the frist half - did anything happen?). We didn't sit back - could have been 3-0. All the best at Blackpool - I hear they are overdrawn 760 billion from hosting so many Labour Party conferences.

Bob
Thames Ditton

Davedarkly - you are so right! we did not have enough experienced players to compete in this division. If we are lucky enough to stay up this year I think we'll see players arrive with Premiership experience, because that is what we'll need to get promoted. There is no way BD wil settle for consolodation next year, he'll set his stall to win the league.
REd Ted- you say that it worries you that BD wants players like Mccleary to play the ball in the corner to waste time. Dont worry about it, Ferguson, Wenger and the rest all support that tactic when appropropriate, BD was just doing the same. Did you see Bent score for Spurs against Newcastle? Newcastle on the attack, Spurs keeper collects the ball and 14 seconds later Spurs are 1-0. It wasn't near the end of the game but the principle applies.
Phil Poole - Hi Dad, how are you? Nice to see you agree with me at last! haha

David Poole (exiled in derby)

The last time we saw flowing attacking football at Forest was when the three pronged attack of Huckerby, Harewood and Johnson terrorised defences in our "nearly, but not quite" season under Paul Hart. When we've competed in the championship before, we've always had players who were proven at this level or higher. Robert Earnshaw & Ian Breckin are the only 2 players our current side (for most of the campaign) that can say that this time around. Promotion last year proved a massive shock to the system for the majority of our squad. Some have responded better than others but on the whole we've been lacking. Our failings last year have been brutally exposed this year, and lets face CC was living in denial for a long time about that.
Billy Davies came in and has faced some stern criticism and most of it completely unjustified. The fact that we are probably favourite to stay up now is a minor miracle considering where we were last December. Nearly half the first team are loan players. We know that this is not BDs fault. It was the hand he was dealt. How on earth would anyone be expected to get a team of journeymen playing fantasy football amidst a relegation dog fight!?? Those who believe that we should be compromising our Championship status for the sake entertainment are living in la la land. If we got relegated, we'd once again lose all our best players and who's going to keep the city ground purists on the edge of their seats then? You can't ask a Volvo to drive like a Ferrari, it just doesn't work like that. A few folk out there need to to come back down to planet earth and recognise what our team is on the crest of achieving because of Billy.

Davedarkly

I am feeling the need to comment about the issue of who is a true supporter and who isn't. Ruth, You are a true supporter, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. It is not all about whether you are able to get to matches week in week out. Sometimes it is about finance, locality, commitments. It does not mean you are not a true supporter if you cannot go to games. This should apply to anyone who may not be from Nottingham, there may be good reason for this, each is an individual and no doubt has an individual reason.
I remember in the 80's everybody supporting Liverpool, just because they were flying high, now it is Manchester Utd, all the kiddies are attracted by the big names, glitzy reputations and are swamped by the commercial aspects, you can buy a Man utd or Liverpool shirt anywhere in the country. Try buying a Forest shirt in Kent, Norfolk or anywhere else except Nottingham. Its the way it is. All I know is if you are a Forest fan and either live away from or are not from Nottingham there has to be a very good reason for your support, it is nevertheless support and support is great in any form.
I live in Kent, I have been a Forest Supporter for 24 years, My grandad supported Forest which is why I made them my team as well. I'll be honest, I do not get to many games either but I follow the progress and keep an in depth interest in the club as much as I possibly can. I enjoy the website and the forum, lots of great input and some good guys contributing. Whoever has reservations about fans from outside Nottingham or fans who do not get to games they should spare a thought to these people and take it from me as I speak from experience they would love it if they could make every game but even if they can't they do not love the club any less. Rest assured guys, there are Forest Fans all over the world, all in their own way focusing on a common goal.

Rowen Udell

Having read some of the comments I'm amazed at some of the negative comments made. The fact is our new manager Billy has done a great job. I believe he knows what he's doing and we should support him. If we manage to stay up I think the flair and beautiful game will come back, but at this point in time we have to scrap and fight for survival.
I do wish Forest players would close the opposition down much quicker, cause them to make mistakes. I believe if we don't do this and give the opposition time on the ball we will get punished. That said the players should be up for the remaining matches.

Life fan whatever
Anthony

I certainly seem to have started the ball rolling this week!!! If you re-read what I said I did actually say that 'short term I will accept anything' I am not expecting anything more than a scrap at present. I was merely pointing out that our current approach to the game is risky and relies on luck being on our side. Fortunately Smithy's first half performance and all other results going our way meant that we got away with it on Saturday. BD said a few weeks ago that Garath McClearly 'showed his in-experience' by going for goal late on in match when he 'should have gone over to the corner flag to waste time.' That kind of statement from a manager is a worry for me I'm afraid. Would he have still been in-experienced if he had stuck it in the top corner? McCleary is superb coming forward, a real prospect and I don't want to see players like him being frozen out of our game while we try and carve out a 0-0.
I'm sure we can win matches by pushing and shoving our way up the table - I'd just prefer us to do it by being better than the other side! (Which incidentally I believe the current squad have the ability to do - I've seen them do it) I don't see this as negative necessarily - I just enjoy seeing Forest playing football. Of course I don't want flowing football and Forest to be in League One or losing every game I just don't want to see my/our beloved Forest turning into another Sheffield United. We'll all have to wait and see what happens next season on that score.
I can however understand why many people would think otherwise because we've had an awful season and I can fully appreciate where the 'win at any cost' idea comes from.
Can I also add weight to the argument about all opinions being welcome on the forum.(well I would wouldn't I!?) Level of attendance does not make peoples' opinions any more or less valid
Still keeping the faith! Here's to 2 more wins. All the best fellow Reds- even Michael! (kept us busy this week hasn't it?)

Red Ted (OK I'll shut up now!) Junior

Oh dear.
Red Ted Junior.
Is it not about staying up this time round?
It seems you have always been anti BD but give it a rest for the next two games.
Who cares if we play football 40 ft in the air- as long as we stay up.
Save the moaning till next season. (unless you just cant help it?????????)

Ian
upper BC

Red Ted Junior, I completely agree with your sentiments and probably so do most of the others who are writing in. This said, would I have been happy to have been relegated although we played beautiful football? No I would not. Survival at all costs is the target and if that means playing in the way that many other clubs do, so be it. The players in this squad have the ability to play pretty football and will I am sure play some of their games like that next season, in conjunction with the guile and strength that is required to compete at this level and above. If we get relegated, which unfortunately is still a possibility, we will have the ability and the attitude to return at first attempt this time. Having said that I believe that Davies has built enough confidence and knowhow into this side to secure the necessary points.
Davies has taken over a young squad whom we all knew had the ability to play the type of game that is expected by Forest fans. He has also brought in some loanees to strengthen us in all areas and is teaching them the tricks of the trade. We will be a good side again and it is possible that Davies will be managing us when we are. During the halcyon days of Clough we played some lovely football, but the players were also taught the less attractive side to winning a game. Burnsey and Lloyd were adept at the manly art of gamesmanship and are living proof of the fact that you need hard men in a winning team. I still remember one of our players, Kenny I believe, nutting one of the opposition on the back of his head, during a free kick in a televised cup game. Brian fined him for this, but I believe it was for getting caught on camera, rather than committing the act.
If anyone has read previous letters from me they will know that I am a fan of Colin Calderwood and was apprehensive when Davies was brought in. This fear was not anything to do with him being being an ex sheep herder, but from what I had read about his supposed character. Now I think that my fears were probably unfounded and it seems to me that he is the right man to take over from the stage that Colin had lifted us to. Whether Davies has the ability to take us into the top half of the premiership and keep us there, only time will tell, but I now believe that he can lift us up to the next level. Within the next three years I expect to be in the top division, so from now on I will refer to him as Billy Davies or BD regardless of where we finish this season and give him my full support whilst he continues to do a good job. He is not Brian Clough, but those days are over and it is now all about the future of the club and not the history, even though I lived there. I do feel that we are a fairly big club that should be in the top half of the premiership and I look forward to those days returning, and seeing the big club opposition at the City Ground. I still vividly remember that appalling game against Accrington Stanley and never want us to play like that, or be at that level again.
Anyway, good luck to you Red Ted Junior, and may our favourite team be onwards and upwards.

C'mon you Reds
Phil Poole (Sutton in Ashfield)

A message to John Rider.
I have read your comments all season and I wonder if you applied for the job when CC left. Its all so easy for you to see how we should play.. perhaps you should be in the Premiership, never mind the Championship.
I just want to raise questions about your last article.
"It was very much like watching 5 a side football" hmm sounds good to me, pass and move football, how else is 5 a side played? Or are you referring to allowing Coventry have a greater level of possession and for us to have all the men behind the ball? I think that brand of football was endorsed by Clough and is known as the counter attack.
"they had done their homework with high balls." Do you expect them not to come with a plan? How do you expect a team to stop the opposition from firing in the long stuff, its just a bit harder than to say perhaps cut out the crosses.
But really testament to this is that they did not score, never mind their blunders in front of goal, despite the opposition doing their homework we kept a clean sheet.
Finally John you talk about defensive frailties.
Coventry - clean sheet
Sheff Utd (away) - clean sheet
Bristol city - 2 mistakes by an ill onloan goaly
despite the 2 against Bristol Id argue that we are far from being frail. So next time you watch us and examine our weaknesses for your next article, may I remind you we are a young team with 6 loan signings that has been quickly cobbled together and in my opinion are doing an excellent job.
I dont know what you do for a living but lets say you had 11 employees, 6 were on a temporary contract, 2 or 3 have been around a bit and 2 or 3 had just finished their apprenticeship.
John how would your place of work do?
Top of the table?
Complete all documents without error.
Finish their work 2 hours earlier because they are so quick?
I didnt think so. So just lay off the boys and be a little more proactive if you will.

Kind regards

David - exiled in derby

Can i just add that my grandpa must be one of the oldest supporters at forest who used to take his 4 boys to every match (my uncle is a season ticket holder) and my dad and younger brother come up as often as possible. His last game was when he went to colchester a few seasons ago and vowed never to go again but he is sat there in his armchair every saturday shouting at the telly!
I am very excited if a little terrified about the next 2 games but i believe that Forest are the best team down there fighting it out and believe they can and will stay up. I hope Norwich too stay up as im 40 minutes from carrow road (but not if it means we go down!) Those season ticket holders out there, give the boys a shout for me and I look forward to seeing the forest in the championship next season. Forest till I die!

Ruth from sunny suffolk

Well said Ruth from sunny Suffolk. I, like you, only get to see the Reds a couple of times a season mainly due to financial and family commitments as Im from East London. BUT I have supported Forest for more than 30 years now, since my uncle took me to see them play West Ham when I was a nipper. Ever since that game, Ive supported and loved the club and it really annoys me when people go on about the 'true' supporter. Who gives a tuppence if you goto 1 game or 30? If you follow the club in whichever way you can and want only the best for Forest, you are a 'true' supporter. So let's just stop all this nonsense, we all want the same thing, to see OUR Forest up where they belong in the Premiership. Lets all pull together, get behind the team and start dreaming of success next season. Watch out Derby, we're gonna overtake you!

I am usually not one for getting involved on the forest Forum but having read the emails I feel Red Ted has come in for some harsh criticism. I for one fully share his view that the standard of football being played is not exactly liquid football, however i also am very pleased by the way the team is performing with a new found desire to win and a toughness I havent seen for years. I do like the gritty performances and thoroughly enjoyed the Sheffield United game, where i was very impressed with Forests magnificant regard display. As for Billy Davies I am a fan, he certainly seems like a proper football manager. And doing what most managers seem to do, start at the back. The fewer goals we conceed the harder we are to beat.
However to support Red Ted, i concur and do hope that time wasting and professionalism is not the direction this football club is taking. Although I didnt mind time wasting against Sheffield United and cheap tactics because; it is an art which they seem to have perfected over the last ten years, Forest essentially didnt really have a kick. All I am saying is this, I understand his point of view, however I do believe that as long as we achieve Championship security that is all that matters, and for three games I can live with the cheap tactics. Hopefully next year we will start passing it along the back line, create triangles and overlapping runs. Maybe play Mcgugan off the striker as the game seems to by-pass him in midfield, but no one can doubt his creative ability. A bit like the role he played against Manchester City. I do hope to see Thornhill more next season, seems we have a player who gets his head up and can pass.
Other than that good luck for the next two games I do believe we can stay up its really in our hands. And i do believe we have a good manager in Billy Davies, maybe we can trust him with transfers. Do we really want David Pleat a man who's sentences consist of 'And the steam has gone completely out of the Spanish sails.' 'That would have put the icing on his start.' and 'We are now in the middle of the centre of the first half.'

Tommy

Can i just say i completely agree with Red Ted Jnrs comments on the standard of football. Its a sad reflection on the demise of this once great club that survival in the CCC is now greeted with such joy and i seen by many as success.Lets not forget that Joe Kinnear, another manager in the style of Billy Davies , came in and 'saved' us. I don`t think any would relish a repeat of that .
Don`t let short term relief blind you folks.

Steve (Nottm)

Now then hands up all those supporters who thought we were brilliant on Saturday? Can`t see many I`m afraid. Yes we got three vital points but we played against a very mediocre Coventry team. In the first half it was very much like watching five aside football. Coventry players had that much time on the ball they were able to pass it to each other and keep possession with the utmost of ease. They had also done their homework exploiting our frailties in defence with high balls causing havoc and chaos in our penalty area. Talk about a squeaky 45 minutes. How we survived the first half was surely down to lady luck and a very poor so called Coventry attacking force.
The usual discussions took place between supporters at half time and BD must have been listening to the suggestions. "Get someone out wide and take on their defence" said the little lad behind me--- "Close them down quicker" quipped Pete who travels all the way from Downham Market to see his team play. Admittedly there were more ideas but you`re only allowed eleven players out on the pitch!
So for the second half --and what a difference. Mcleary out wide ---started snapping at their heels--a goal in 35seconds --but was it too early we all said? Time dragged by--- my watch kept stopping or did it?---surely it`s time ref? Where did you get those extra 4 minutes?
Well we got the three points but can we repeat it next week against Blackpool or are we in for a "rocky" time? Lets hope our performance is better than the pun.
One thing is certain though. I`m sure we will all be looking at the league table and the fixture list working out the various permutations--will the others win--will they draw or hopefully lose? Barnsley last night was a good start. Perhaps all we have to do now is win and draw our last two games. Is that asking too much?

John Rider Old Timer worksop

Hey Red Ted Junior, hang in there son. We need to utilise every advantage we can and although some tactics are alien to our football culture, only the result is important to us. You must have seen our opponents employ similar tactics at the City Ground.BD to lead our survival then you watch him build a team to consolidate our position next season. I take on board and agree with many of your comments but a cheating side,no. Okay,so we bend the rules a wee bit.

Peter Boothby.Downham Market. Norfolk.

Feeling slightly guilty about my rant to Red Ted - having different opinions is what makes this page so interesting... its getting to that crunch time of the season and i for one dont have finger nails left. Keep the faith Red Ted, and hopefully we'll be playing in this league again next season! The anternatives are too unpaletable to contemplate, and i think over the summer Billy will do us proud especially if the rumour of £800k Lee Camp signing is anythnig to go by. The next 2 games might not be pretty, but the end result is the only important thing at this point in the season, given our position.

Good Luck to us all!

Hello Ruth
whether you are an armchair supporter for whatever reason it doesn't matter, if the super reds are in your heart they will be there forever and you can still have your say, that is the beauty of this site, i have had to do it for years just like you and like many other tricky tree followers around the world, i have managed to get back down the beloved city ground and even one of my kids has got involved, (kid 20) she now buys me beeeeer yipppeee, so wherever you support the super reds from KEEP HAVING YOUR SAY, we are not all negative just a small minority who dont know any different.
Cheers Ruth
and all of you super red tricky tree'ers, keep the faith
forever forest
Phil of the forest faithful

In response to Red Ted Junior.
I too do not condone cheating or gamesmanship, however I'd give anything for Forest to stay up this season.
Next season will be different, its another issue. I do not want to see Forest turn into Sheffield United whose tactics are not in the spirit of the game and as a result should have a weekly meeting at Soho square to discuss their on and off field antics.
Please remember though we need to know about these tactics, we need to know when to be cute and we need to know how to handle these situations when other teams use them against us.
This is not about cheating this is about putting a young team on a learning curve and making sure we stay up.
Red Ted Junior I appreciate your willingness for a purist form of football and I'd love to see that happen at Forest, but in any form of competition you must react to any given situation.
Since January we have not been able to afford to give anyone an inch because we are a young immature team, with a bit of experience we'll be able to control games with the quality we have and wont need to use gamesmanship tactics.

david - exiled in derby

Red Ted, let me put this in to perspective for you - "We are changing into a scrapping, argueing, cheating side......" - the KEY word you miss there which negates all others is WINNING. Flair is a luxury and at this point in time we have no place for luxuries, just results. Let's stay up first, then worry about our style of play after, I'm sure Billy Davies knows this and he's just doing the best he can with what he's got for the moment. Keep it up lads, lets aim for 6pts from these last two games (although I'd take 1 at Blackpool) just to make sure! It'd still be easy to get dragged back down there so be on your gaurd!

Dan - Mansfield

Im not sure weather i am allowed to send a message and weather i am really a true supporter as im not a season ticket holder and only get to 6 or 7 games a season. The way people talk on here its like you cant be a forest fan if you dont go to EVERY home game. A supporter comes in any shape or form and remember if you were to not be a true fan you would support man utd, chelsea etc and never see them play and just be there for the glory! I was there this past weekend and watched a completely different side to the side I saw against ipswich in february. So much passion and spirit by the players in the second half. A fantastic atmosphere in the ground too and I must congratulate the supporters who HAVE been to every game and have continued, whatever the score line was and wherever we were in the league to raise their voices and get behind the team unlike a lot of clubs who if they dont win a few games they are booing and hissing so I applaude you all. Heres to next season (and maybe i will make it to a few more games - leaving hubby at home with the children!) and a season in the championship.

Ruth
sunny suffolk supporter (if you will let me!)

Can we all please come to one agreement that we are on the way back. Style is not important now and Red Ted I hope you understand that playing nice football in League One is no good to us. Any team in our position need to scrap. That is why we have never come to the top as we cant scrap with the likes of Burnley, Wolves etc.You can easily start playing nice football when you are clear at the top or back in the premiership. So battle on boys and next season we are heading for the top 6.

All this positivity is mighty refreshing, and long overdue, HOWEVER!!!!!!!!
We have to do our job, and by this I mean we MUST BEAT BLACKPOOL, a draw will only serve to inspire Norwich, who will know what they have to do before they next play.
If we are 3 points clear on the last day, we will then need only a point against the Saints, but Doncaster were in this sort of position last season, and I think we all know what happened then!!!!!
I just hope that the players realise that they need to win at the seaside to secure safety, I am sure that Billy will be telling them that. Plymouth managed it so we should be able too.
Red Ted junior, keep the faith, as I have said before, all that matters now is survival, Billy will get the chance to produce good footy with his own side here next season, looking at the loan signings he has made, the guy clearly has an eye for talent, so lets wait and see, we are all reds here, and we all want the same thing.
Finally, I look forward to seeing Sammy Clingans face when Norwich (Big Club my pants!) go to league 1. Still at least he should remember most of the sides they will be facing.

Hello everyone
cracking result on saturday, we are not in a situation to play pretty football and i agree that the boss and his backroom team have certainly instilled a toughness and more professionalism to the team, to grind out a result when we need to, you could see his thinking on saturday to play one up front as they played five in midfield hoping to hit us on the break because they obviously thought we would play 4-4-2 so well done boss, ahead of the opposition.
The teams hunger to succeed looks good again so lets not judge anyone now, lets stay in the championship and start again next season with fresh minds fresh faces and then judge the boss.
Heres to the blackpool and southampton games which hopefully will be wins.
sing your hearts out for the lads
cheers everyone

Phil of the Forest faithful

Sorry to upset you Michael!! People with differing opinions always get accused of 'not being fans' on this forum. For clarification I am a season ticket holder - just one with a slightly different view of current events from yours.
I am totally behind the team - all I am pointing out is that a) I don't like the cheating and b) narrowly avoiding relegation by the skin of our teeth does not mean success. It's relief we are feeling we haven't achieved anything.
BD may well prove to be the saviour of the club as you say but it has only been in the last few games that we have seen anything that resembles progress. All I am saying is without the threat of relegation over our heads I don't think we would be so jubilant about the standard of football. We didn't get the ball for the first half on Saturday.
Best Wishes to you Michael - I can cope with you having a different opinion form me without telling you to take my support elsewhere!

Come on you Reds
Red Ted Junior

Red Ted Junior are you for real and have you actually been to any games? Please dont tell me you're a forest fan, im assuming your a De*by fan in disguise, who is wishing you had persevered with BD. BD is a motivator (see that passion at the end of the Coventry game when we acknowledge the fans), man manager (Mcgugan) and honest. This is the best i have felt about a manager at the city ground since Harty's early days. Whilst not wanting to tempt fate, i think David Poole is spot on in his comments about BD. The team have developed a maturity, mental toughness and self belief that hasn't been evident for months/seasons. The football on display isn't bad, there's bound to be nerves and stray passes, but generally when we have played its been good to watch.
Amazing support, lets fill it again against Southampton, Red Ted if you cant get positive and cheer the team, there is a club a few miles up the road who might be grateful of your "support".

P.S Good luck to Harty at Pompey

Fantastic result on Saturday against Cov, the style is completely unimportant; all that matters now is the end result.
The time for style and flair can be at the start of next season, when we begin (hopefully) our second championship campaign, a year older, wiser and better prepared. Hopefully with Camp, Blackstock and Anderson all signed permanently, and Shelvey from Charlton if we can get him.
Those of you who feel that time wasting, and kicking and biting and scrapping for the points is not how Forest should be doing it, need to realise that at times this is the only way to get the points, our naivety has cost us massively this season, the age of innocence has passed, sometimes you just have to get dirty to win.
The situation now is clear, we MUST BEAT BLACKPOOL, then regardless of what Norwich get against Reading, we need just a point against the already gone (surely) saints to ensure survival. Every Forest fan needs to be a Reading fan this weekend, because if they beat Norwich, we need 1 point from 2 games Yippee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Finally, my sincere thanks to Adele McGuinness for the music information, you lady are a star

Adrian and Mrs Warren (ready for the Saints, but hoping it is nothing more than a celebration game)
CCCCOOOOMMMMEEEE OOOONNNN YYYYOOOOUUUU RRRREEEEDDDDSSSS

I can't believe I am writing this as I am so happy with the three points gained on Saturday, however……….
I think we were lucky we did not share the points and for the life of me, do not know why we played one up front with Garner playing left wing back against a team who had concede four goals within 30 mins the last time they played away! Cohen should have been on the left with Garner playing alongside Blackstock, Anderson on the right. It was like watching a CC team (Holt left wing) and very concerning at times. BD said he was trying desperately to sign a 'Target' man up front for either Earnie, Tyse or Joe to play alongside. He gets his wish with Blackstock (a great bit of business by the way!) but then Garner is played down the left flank! If Earnie was fit I am assuming he would have started, I am also assuming that Earnie would not have played left wing back. Very odd!

Well done Chambers. An excellent game in the position he craves.

Keep it up BD, even if you do confuse me at times!

Its now in our hands a draw and a win will be enough to see us to safety, a dour first half on Saturday but a far better effort in the 2nd half, i feel its a confidence thing with the youngsters and once we scored early in 2nd half you could see their relief.
The Old Timer was sat between 2 stooges on Saturday as my friend ( A Brentford Fan ) was staying with us and came to see 'This Super Team ' as he put it, far from super in 1st half but he is very confident we wont be playing his team next year !!!
Coventry could do us a big favour on Tues as Ipswich did yesterday, lets hope the last game of season is a 'No Pressure Game' my nerves are nearly shot and even though I cannot get to the Blackpool game I will be with the lads 110 % listening on the radio, CUM ON YOU REDSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

Mick Wagstaff ( Young Timer ) Worksop

This has not needed much thought and I know its a little premature but Billy Davies is the best manager we have had in 17 years.
He is the first true leader we have had in years, he gets the team playing, he motivates the whole city and we have a bright future with him.
Thanks Billy, you are a real professional.

David Poole (exiled in derby - son of sage Phil Poole)

Luckily for BD we are so desperate now we will accept anything in terms of football. 'Great' performances? Really? Although I am as relieved as anybody that we seem to be inching our way closer to survival, I don't share the enthusiasm for what is happening on the pitch. Praise indeed for their (if a little sporadic) fighting spirit which has actually been there all season but if we didn't have relegation hanging over us there wouldn't in my opinion be a great deal to get excited about. Billy comments on the bravery/work rate of the players but neglects to mention the fact that most of the time we are lucky to see 3 passes strung together.
Under Davies we are turning into a scrapping, arguing, cheating side who haven't got the flair to win a match by playing football. I hate the fact that we think slowing the play or the ball boys (come on Billy - does it really come down to ball boys?) down will gain us anything. To try and shut up shop at 1-0 is ridiculous with a side that is so weak defending corners and free kicks. I fully understand why this is happening currently - because we are desperate, but I can't say it sits comfortably. Heroic defending is very commendable but far too risky as the only strategy for winning a match.
Short term - I'll take anything - but long term this is not what I want to see at Forest. Credit where it is due if he manages to keep us up against the odds and I'm sure people will then be saying he's the right man for the job but in my opinion there have not been many sparkles of managerial genius influencing our recent results.
Keep it up Reds.

I wont go over the top but this winning feeling is really good for the well being and quite good for the health in general, so after a season of bad health I am beginning to feel a little better but am still holding onto one or two ailments, just until the end of the season when I will either make a full recovery or fall on my backside with a bout of uncontrollable disappointment.
My mental health has suffered, it's only football the wife says but what does she know about the beautiful game? She tells me to get over it, there's more to life than moping over a game of footy. I have been sent to Coventry more than once which brings me swiftly onto the our latest triumph. Well it was hard fought and won hard, grinded out and no less nail biting than the next two will undoubtedly be. We have a few days to grow some more nails so we can have a go at them next match day.
He may look like the dog from the Churchill Insurance adverts but he seems to be getting something reactionary from the boys at this very tense time, some bulldog spirit maybe, Oh yes!
Keep going lads, do it for the club, for the fans, for your own peace of mind that a job was done and done well, eventually anyway. Next season is not far away, lets look up, not down.
Keeping the faith

Rowen Udell.

God that was hard work, but 3 hard fought points again. 6 more would be good!!
Chambers finally looked good in his correct position and once again, Wes was awesome. McCleary looked sharp when he came on.
I really hope we are in this league next season and that was my last match for this season.
Well done Forest, keep going.
By the way there was a good crowd today but with big crowd brings more Women and children which is no bad thing of course, but please Forest, can we have some more ladies toilets!!! Simply not enough of them and more women are watching football now than ever before.
Ok moan over.
U REDS!!

Adele McGuinness

PS For Adrian and Mrs Warren.
The music to which you refer is by Eric Prydz and is called Pjanoo. I also like this, it gets my foot tapping.

For some time now I have wondered what David Pleat does at the City Ground. He seems to be heavily involved in the media and is always on the ITV matches. Apart from being paid at Forest he must be earning a fortune from ITV, someone told me he also goes on to Radio sport programmes. So, what does he do? If we do go down (God forbid) then we must endeavour to keep the team together so that they can build and become even stronger irrespective what it costs. Yes, off-load those players that have not come up to scratch and get class central defenders in for that this is where we have been lacking.
