I would like to say that I too am very much concerned over the injuries. It also concerns me over the defense and we are now looking at further inexperienced players to bolster the defense with. The thing that concerns me the most is that all our previous loan signings get injured within days or weeks after we get them on the team or sometimes we dont even get that far. Look at the goal keeper from coventry last season, never played once. Wil Hoskins got injured after 1 and a half games and never came back. Paul Anderson has not even played yet in pre-season or other. Lee Martin was recently injured and left out of the Sunderland cup game. Then with the regular players like Mcgugan, Davies, Earnshaw, Garner, Bennett, Tyson, Cole, Wilson and others picking up injuries and the season has not even kicked off properly, it is concerning. I know these players will get fit eventually, but by the time that happens, will we be lying at the bottom of the league? Also how long will it be before it happens again and we get stuck without the proper players. I said all last season and this that the defense is not good enough. Now everyone is admitting it, apart from the forest themselves. I think what forest thought is if they buy enough strikers and the teams get the odd goal, we would still be able to score more than the other team, no matter how many the others scored. That theory got a kick in the rear at Wolves. I really hope forest wake up soon and get some transfer action going, we have to do something soon because it is not going to be pretty otherwise.
Nick
I am probably not the only concerned fan at the moment but these injuries are starting to make our squad very thin.
Mcgugan, Davies, Garner, Bennett Anderson all out for lengthy spells, Earnshaw nursing a hamstring injury, Tyson well ok now but for how long, makes me wonder about if Mr Calderwood is looking at loan players especially in defence, because young Heath deserves a chance but its a little early for him, Cohen at left back !!! yeah hes left footed but a left back ?.
So it begs the question teams like Burnley need to be beaten but Saturday could be a potential banana skin !! I hope not but then games away at Preston and home to Charlton are not easy by any means.
We dont want to get to Christmas hovering around the bottom 3 or its going to be a long worrying season, lets hope some cover is bring considered if not well who knows !!!!

I Would like to point out that even though we "may" have the quality to gain acess to the premiership. We would never be able to stay there without investment in the club in a big way.
With the likes of Chelsea, Man United, Man City, Liverool etc etc drawing the attentions of huge investment. The Premiership is likely in a few years to be unstoppable and anyone that enters without a huge investment, would be advised to avoid promotion.
I think that is allot of what has gone on these days. The teams below are not really looking at what is around them but what could happen if they go up and how they would survive. It shows everywhere that the contenders are now looking for BIG investment. With the latest being Preston, asking David Beckham to buy them out and Norwich getting 2 Million investments from dehlia smith and co.
It is no longer about talent or luck in games. It is about who you can buy and how much money you have. The game is being destroyed by this and it is sad to see it happen.
Allot will say it is exciting but when teams like Forest cannot buy players like Robinho, how will they ever compete.
Nick
We need to be more defensive and pick up the pace with the back four as they were very slow and looked very tired against Wolves. Paul Smith is probably one of the best keepers in this leaue but he has not got the defense their to help him... I have said for the past 2 seasons that CC is the next Brian Clough and even after the 5-1 thrashing at Wolves i would still put money on it. He will get us back to the premiership where we belong. We have had a some good results at the start of the new season in the championship and apart from the Wolves result i think we can be proud of every result we have had. Wolves are going to fly this league this season so its not that depressing that we got thrashed so as long as we can get at least a draw against the likes of Birmingham and Derby ( which shouldnt be too hard the way their playing) then i think we can keep close to Wolves as long as the players keep their heads held high. With the likes of Robert Earnshaw, Nathen Tyson and Andy Cole as a strike force we should be scoring plenty of goals when they are all fit. Also when Lewis McGugan is fit he will be another player to help Forest get into the top half of the league at least. Personally i think we could do with strengthening our defense a little. Thank god for david friio aswel.... Guy Moussi, what a signing, Lets hope he can find some defenders over in France for us. Also Lee Martin a great loan. We have got the players to get back in the premiership now lets do it.... Come on you reds. Good luck CC.

ok, I have been reading allot of the stories of...........calm down it is only 4 games in, calm down this and calm down that. I can understand the points made.
However, CC went on TV stating he was going for promotion with the embarassment of a schoolboy who has just kissed by his first girl. Cringing like the presenter was was going to bite him. There was no conviction to his words and that scares me. I mean I am sure he can do it but does he even realise what league he is in. League 2 and 1 are pub teams compared to what we face here.
I am worried and shocked at how many fans sit back and accept this when our glorious team deserves better, they do not deserve to be beaten by Wolves or Swansea. We should be giving teams a chance to floor us and if any of you people telling everyone to calm down were there at the weekend, you would see why. We should be atleast giving them a run for their money.
We could not defend a paper bag at the weekend. It was not like Wolves were giant killers or the class of Messi or anything like that. They were a good team that knew what they were doing and we just stood and watched them do it.
It was like we could not be bothered to chase the ball or confront and defend the attacks. I also do not want to hear on here the excuses of the 120 minute game that we played. Wolves had one too. There are NO excuses. Martins did not even play, so that should have boosted us.
The way it seems is CC thinks that if you score more goals than the other team, it does not matter how many we lose. Look at Yeovil at the end of last season, losing 2 goals to poor defending, ball watching if you like. Look at Wolves and Watford and Swansea, losing goals to poor defense and ball watching.
Let me get this on the record all you calm down fans, nobody is hitting the panic buttons yet but there have been ALLOT of managers at this club that get us promoted, ruin the team with their tactics and then run into the hills. Platt, Clark, Megson etc etc etc etc etc.
If those players at the weekend, do not think about this and hurt when they do, I will be annoyed
I think this is a great learning curve and I pray we learn and do not sit down and keep letting it happen.
Here is to a good season

6 games played so far - and all is well. It seems that one (large) defeat has brought out the reactive panic merchants, so let's remind ourselves at what has already been achieved.
Guy Moussi. What a find and what a prospect.
A draw against a newly relegated Prem side.
No booing at Forest drawing 0-0 at home.
Cruising past Morcambe (no Accrington, Woking or Macclesfield embarrassments).
A great performance against Watford who were challenging for automatic promotion last year.
A fine effort v Sunderland and minutes away from victory.
4 points from 4 difficult games - if we had drawn all 4 we would have been happy and it's points that count.
4 goals from Earnshaw is exactly the confidence boosting start he needs.
So, there have been 2 league defeats, but Swansea was always going to be hard (and a draw would have been satisfactory) and Wolves will beat lots of teams this year. The majority of Forest fans will accept 12th place this year and that means losing 12-15 games and these are likely to be at places like Swansea and Wolves. Panic buttons are not needed. And we still have half a team to come back!
To look ahead, I suggest Forest fans check out Ipswich Town. They are a team that we should aim to be emulating - lots of high finishes in the Championship, similar sized crowds, and were big in the 80s (!). We play them on 21 October which is our 12th League game (a quarter of the season gone). This will also be Ipswich's 12th match, and, bizarrely, they will have played 9 of the 11 teams we will have played by then. So far they have played Watford (lost 1-2), Wolves (lost 0-2 and it could have been a lot more), beaten Burnley 3-0 and lost to Preston 1-2 (those are our next 2 opponents). So by end of play on 21 October we will then have a lot more information on how this team (and manager) can cope in this division. We are currently 1 point ahead of Ipswich. If we are still 1 point ahead of them on 22 October I predict we will be at least in mid table. We will then know if this week's panic merchants were ahead of the game or should have considered their responses a little more carefully.

Please guys (and gals), can we stop our moaning this side of Crimbo and wait to see where we are then! I for one have been eating lashings of Humble Pie since our promotion and yes, we were terrible at Wolves but you all have to admit, our performances and ability to retain the ball has been better this season than it has been for the past 3/4 seasons. We will win games, lose games, get thrashed in games (occasionally) but hey, we are playing decent football, at home anyway, and the priority this season is to progress. I would settle for a top 12 finish and push on from there next season.
To read on here that we should bring back Agogo, Holt and Commons, please, do me a favour! The loan window opens on Monday and my bet is that we will bring 2 or 3 players in, especially defenders. Now that the Premiership teams have their squads sorted, there is bound to be a few players willing and able to join us on loan, simply to play matches.
I will still travel up from Dorset with my son for each home game with my season ticket in hand and whatever happens, happens! I am sure we will not get relegated and if that happens, we have progressed!

Ps - is the young lady I met in Las Vegas airport out there, the one I gave my supporters badge to? If so, hi di hi!
We spent all of last two seasons begging CC to be more attacking and now he has. Wolves was a nightmare but after Wednesday's game (which was one of the best games I have seen from Forest for ages) and playing away to a team looking strong enough for automatic promotion it was on the cards. We had the best defensive record last year because we were just that, defensive! With a more attacking approach the defence was always going to be exposed and it is going to take time for the team to get the balance right so that they can still attack but help out at the back when needed. Our flanks look dodgy because we rarely played against pace up front on a regular basis in the previous two seasons and it just takes a lot out of the team. Before the Watford game CC said on the radio that he was comfortable with our defensive players. Personally I think one or two extra defenders would not go amiss but that is not to be so on this we have to trust CC. We have some amazing attacking talent in the squad who are getting stronger and better by the week. Have faith in what we have and support the team, especially the back four, as they all need our support like never before to achieve what they are capable of.

One defeat away at a decent Championship side and once again everyone gets on Colin's back. Maybe if you doom and gloom merchants want to moan you should consider supporting Derby, you'll have lots of opportunity to be pessimistic there.
We have a youthful, if somewhat unexperienced squad who may take time to adjust to life in the championship, but give them a chance. If you cannot do that go else where and let me and the faithful enjoy watching our team try and win football games playing good football. It was only a week ago that we played fantastically again Watford.
Keep going Colin and co!

Some people on this board need a reality check, we are not a premiership side in waiting, we are newly promoted to the championship.
We have just had 3 years in league one and we are in the process of building a side to compete in the championship, this will take time. This season we need to consolidate. The first target should be to get enough points on the board to avoid relegation, then we go on from there.
Let's not start blaming the manager/players/chairman/tea lady for a heavy defeat to a very good established championship side. Hey guess what, we are going to get beaten by a few sides this year because they are better than us - that's football !
Of course the manger and chairman know where we have to strengthen, but thankfully they also know it has to be the right player at the right price. So let them get on with the job.
People need to be patient and appreciate that this level is a step up from where we have been for the last 3 years and the club is building for the future. We are playing attractive football and moving in the right direction.
Get behind them after a defeat, not onto them !
Paul
Why are some fans still going on about "the good old days" ? & how we were once bigger than Chelsea Man City etc?
Do you go to the City ground & sing "we are Chelsea or we are Man City" ? i very much doubt it because we are Nottingham Forest & its about time people realized this & stop comparing us to other teams! So what if somebody who is 10 x richer than abramovich has bought Man City, who cares? We are who we are & we have the backing of a very good chairman so stop wishing we where a team we're not.
Agreed that our defence could be stronger as im sure everybody who is involved with the club realizes.

If we can afford to offer 2 million for a player and they decide they do not want to come, why is their not a plan B. Surely we can afford to buy someone else probably for less money and a much better player. This is typical of Forest, we never seem to be on top of our game, when it is obvious to all that we need to strengthen the squad especially in defence. Or is it that they know their man will not come and make it look like they are trying.

as i thought at the start of the season our defence would struggle some on here had a go at me about it.last season on paper it looked solid but they made a lot of mistakes that were not punished this season were getting punished.we need to get chambers out of right back or teams are going to target him.bennett is decent at left back but i would prefer someone better and we could do with a centre half who can marshall the defence. At home we have shown we can compete in a attacking mode but away we look relegation material.its only early in the season and we have had a couple of encouraging performances but teams now know our weaknesses and if the defence dosnt shape up we may find ourselves in deep trouble by christmas

Hello everyone
Nice to see that some of us can see the wood from the trees, if you was at the Sunderland game you would have seen a lot of the lads absolutely shattered laying on the ground, they had given there all against a premeirship side but couldn't hold out. The Sunderland game was a massive learning curve for most of these lads as was the wolves game, unfortunately these young lads couldn't get another full tank of fuel in two days so give them time and support and they will make the grade. To be honest the boss gave us what we have been craving for, which was a very attacking team sheet so give them all a break and get ready for the next game and get behind the super reds again.
Come on everybody be positive.
cheers
up the mighty reds
Phil of the Forest faithful
We've conceded 10 goals in our last 3 championship games. Our defence, apart from Luke Chambers, looks slow and clumsy and despite this CC and forest have not been linked with any defensive players who would hopefully tighten things up at the back. Just because they were good enough last season does not mean they will be good enough this year and if results so far are anything to go by, CC needs to act quickly before its too late
Glen from Wales
I have just sat up and watched the close of the transfer window on tv. I was hoping that forest were going to make some late plays or had something up their sleaves but nothing.
I watched teams that were once lower and tiny compared to us, make record million pound signings and us nothing. Oh how times have changed, from winning cups in europe to not even being able to atract players from crystal palace like ben watson. What has gone wrong here...I really hope that Calderwood has either some loan signings or given the players that turned up at wolves, a brain transplant and that is where the transfer money has gone, because if they have got that attitude for the rest of the season, they do not need to bother staying. I really hope that forest can go back to the good times but....with man city buying players like that....how will we ever compete....it saddens me to think just a short time ago we were breaking transfer records and now look....we have to break our backs to get players...however it does not seem like forest are doing that either. All the teams in this league have made super signings in the last hours and we have done nothing......I just hope luck is on our side as it will have to be if the attitude at wolves is not gone by the next game...it scares me because we are with the big boys and forest have treated this as a business as usual league. I hope their eyes open soon or league one here we come.

Am i the only person who thinks that 90 mins plus extra time against a premier league teams first team, played end to end. A game that was played just 3 or 4 days prior to the Wolves game, may just have been reason for the ''shambolic display'' on saturday? After all no matter how much of a professional you are it must take its toll !! Also all i read last year on here was ''we need more up front''. We now have prob one of the best attacking forces in this league, but that is still not good enough !! granted our defence isnt the tightest at the moment but what does it take to keep the tricky fans happy, buying a whole new team in the off season ?? Ok it was a lower division last year but we had one of if not the best defence. So nothing to suggest that they would struggle as much as they have to adjust to lets face it a totaly different style/type of football. None of us has a crystal ball to see what would happen this year and CC has to make the best of what he can with what he has got (no im not one of his biggest fans either). But results aside to my mind a draw against an unlucky to be relegated ex premier league team, taking a premier league team (who played their first team against us) to extra time and being within 4mins of beating them and scoring 3 goals against a team who had a chance of being promoted to the premier league last year and beating them, to be a reasonable start to a season in the championship (premier B). I know we all want to see the mighty reds back in the top flight but what happened to patience ? First the team and CC have to adapt to championship footballing style before they can dominate it surely !!!!!!!!!!

All in all I think we can put that ( Wolves ) down to a bad day at the office. A culminatin of believing our own hype, on us so far and a very draining game on wednesday against Sunderland and brave ( strange ? ) decision by CC to go with three up front and an attacking midfielder against one of the best teams in the league ( I think they will win it ).
Dust yourself down boys and show us the first few games were a true reflection.
Plus I appreciate that there are no easy games in this league but in Reading, Watford, Swansea and Wolves we have played four of the potential top 6 teams in the opening month.

no need to panic, as in my opinion forest have had four tough fixtures to start off with and although our defence is looking dodgy at the moment theres a long way to go. reading, swansea(away) watford and wolves( away) is a tough baptism in what is a difficult league.we do need to improve but the opposition wont always be as tough. I would be quite satisfied with a mid table finish then the club can build on that. how long have wolves been in this league!!

As we all know our mighty Forest got their arses well and truly kicked on Saturday... 5-1 it truly was a shambolic display, I find it very frustrating given the amount of money we have spent on some good players (Earnshaw especially) and let some class players go to subsidise this (come back Agogo, Commons and Holt) However, due to good pre season performance, and how well we played against Sunderland both times, and the action packed Watford game, this 5-1 drumming may be what we need. OK we got promoted, and maybe got a bit of a big head about it, hearing all the pundits saying "They'll do well in his league, they could make the playoffs" etc... Well I think our players and some of the more negative fans need to remember that we have just come up from a lower league where we spent 3 years, to a league where 95% of the teams are fighting for the premiership, they are game and hungry... I think thats where we are letting ourselves down, we need that passion we need that drive and the championship league players we purchased need to realise that they were sold because they weren't performing like they used to at say.... Norwich, and the guys who are here on loan from the premiership clubs, say ....Liverpool these boys want to see how much we need this, how much Nottingham needs this, how much the Club needs this and more importantly how much the fans need this. We want our generation to live the highlight of 78 & 79 back in the Clough & Taylor era, it was truly magnificent. My wife is expecting our first child, a boy, I want him to experience what my Dad (God rest his soul) showed me when I was a child back in the 70's. Forest will always be remembered for Clough and Taylor and what they did, but that era is over, lets make CC this and my unborn sons generation the new Clough, make Forest the team they used to be, back in the day when someone would say "who's your lot got this weekend?... Forest!" that used to send fear into football supporters everywhere. To the current players of Nottingham Forest FC, Make us proud, train hard then train even harder, Play hard then play even harder, get goals then get even more goals, win games and win even more games, get promoted and win the pride of every man woman and child in Nottingham who love and support this club.
Remember this is now COLIN CALDERWOOD'S RED AND WHITE ARMY!!! Who has done more for this club since Ol' Big Ead

A very very poor effort from our lads Saturday, we turned up for the first
5 minutes and some will say it was 1-1 in the second half but my concerns all pre season and in the games I have watched is the defence.
Firstly Chambers is being found out for pace and many teams will have noticed this and their tricky wingers will have a field day, why did we have at times 4 men in attack, against a quality side like Wolves that is suicide and so it proved. Wes was beaten too many times by Iwelumo, Kightly and Jarvis made us look a shambles and Ebanks-Blake was quality as well.
Yes when Anderson ( By the way no one can find out how long he will be out ) Garner, Tyson and Cole are fully fit, Big worry about Earnie hope its not too bad, we will have a potent strikeforce but we are going to concede goals too many for my liking and despite what CC says ' We have enough cover at the back ' I for one think he is having a laugh !!!!
Cannot see anyone coming in today but I certainly feel we need to be looking at getting some quality cover on loan at the back or we are going to be in a scrap at the bottom of this league which none of us want.
Its also a worry at why we are picking up all these torn thigh muscles and hamstring problems is it something to do with the training regime ? in my day these were uncommon to say the least.
I will be following the lads through thick and thin this year which may prove to be a long hard journey, and I hope this 2 week break will give the team a chance to work on things and come out fresh and fighting against Burnley because its teams like them we need to be beating and keep them below us.

Hi everyone...
Time to reflect on saturdays shambolic display against wolves !!!!!
Wolves are a very good team this season they are a powerfull fast and move the ball very quickly and directly, a lot betterr than us they have a very good manager who makes no excuess and is stright talking.
They also as a club get 25000 plus attendance every other week making them another midlands club who are bigger than forest.
When i listened to CC on skysports speaking about promotion this season i had to laugh , he should have played it down and just concentrated on keeping us in the division this season and slowly building a good squad.
All he as done is put a lot more pressure on himself and the team maybe a lack of management experience
I am not jumping on the band waggon but i have never felt he is the right man for our club he is to negative and i for one dont think he gets the best out of some very talented young players we have.
On saturday the score could have been a lot worst than 5-1 they had 2 goals ruled out , smith made 3 world class saves and they misses 3 one on ones.
Its going to be a long hard season this year with a lot of ups and downs but that display on saturday is just not good enough .
There are a lot more stronger teams in this division this season the likes of birmingham , sheff utd , palace , norwich , bristol city and so on , so CC better learn fast in this division or instead of talking about promotion before he knows it we will be fighting for our lives again.

Welcome to The Championship Forest! We were competely undone by a very good Wolves team but to many Forest fans the writing was already on the wall following some poor defensive displays in previous games against Watford and Swansea.
Yesterday we had no answer to a fast moving Wolves team that literally ripped us apart but we didn`t help the situation with some poor individual performances. We gave far too much room to the opposition particularly on the flanks where we had no answer to their flair, speed and imagination. In fact things could have been much worse for us but Smith made two fantastic saves to spare our blushes.
We must realise we are playing against some very good footballers in this division. In fact many would be good enough for The Premiership but their places have ben taken by the influx of foreign players during the past few years. Having said that we also have some good players but we are making some silly but elementary mistakes and these are quickly being punished at this level.
I hope CC takes a good look at our players and asks himself if they are going to be good enough to rise to the occasion. We will have to face many more challenges this season and if something is not done quickly to overcome our shortcomings it could turn out to be a long and disappointing time for us all.

Good evening fellow supporters of this 'promotion pushing team'.
From an analytical point of view, however early on in the season it is, I would say promotion is as likely as Neil Warnock still being in work by December.
I feel deeply sorry for those Forest supporters who turned up to watch utter rubbish. There is only one positive to take from today's result, we cannot get much worse!!!
The line up for the next league game against Burnley, one of the few teams who are currently worse than we are,
Smith
chambers, wilson, morgan, bennett
McCleary, Perch, Moussi, Martin
Cole Tyson (only because Earnshaw seems to be injured)
I hesitate in dropping Breckin because Chambers hasnt exactly been on the top of his game...although his time will come.
Can I suggest as I have before that we are short in centre halves and get spending before the transfer window closes, correct me if I am wrong, but we only have 2 recognised centre halves?
Why have we gone from solid at the back (25 clean sheets last season) to more leaky than my kitchen tap!!! Come on Colin, where's the middle ground between attack and defence??? We need to go back to the basics that got us promoted. Solid defence and not over-committing in attack. This league is hard. As I said before, it's premiership B. We are way too naive
Right. We have 2 weeks before the next league match. Plenty of time to put this fiasco behind us and sign an experienced, speedy, centre-half. The only thing that is keeping my head up is the fact that Derby are bottom of the league.
Come on Forest... you are better than this.......

Just returned from the game at Wolves. What a shambles.
We are conceeding more goals than we are scoring and that is a worry.
I heard the aftermatch response from CC and he appears that he is resigned to conceeding goals. Sorry CC if that it the case then maybe you need to bring in a solid centre half. Again the lessons have not been learn't from last season.
CC is too defence minded. Go away from home you take the game to the home team. Sorry CC shutting up shop will not work in this league.
Our defence is not strong enough to cope in this league. Morgan reminds me of a young Titus Bramble, too clumsy. He was certainly at fault in the Sunderland game for not closing down David Healy. Ian Brechin, well past his sell by date.
Again the defence was at fault today, more leaks in it than a tea bag.
If CC continues with this defence and fails to strengthen, then we will be proping up the championship with our sheep neighbours.

Four games played and the statistics read as follows:
Played 4, won 1, draw 1, lost 2
Goals scored: 5, conceeded 10.
What an absolute disgrace, if CC thinks this team is good enough to battle in this league, then think again. Not for the first time this season away have we been played off the park. Its ok for CC to sign strikers, but before a ball was kicked this season I had my reservations about the defence and it certainly shows.
To CC a bit of advice for you, teams are built from the back. Its ok scoring goals but if your conceeding more then you are going to loose.
You have two weeks to sort this garbage out, otherwise its going to be a short lived season in this league.
I give CC 10 games to prove his worth and cut it in this division otherwise its the managerial scrapheap for him

Well, Well, Well....The defence were caught ball watching AGAIN.
All looking like statues in the box and letting the Wolves players run at us. They ran rings around the defence.
And CC says there is no defence problem, can I ask what match he is watching??? Also he was there with his strange formations AGAIN...4 players up front away from home at Wolves....what were you thinking???
The defenders were non-existent, the midfield could not hold or pass the ball. Then just let Wolves run at us..
I also feel sorry for Smith as he is surrounded by poor players in defence. Although even he has lost his plot in this league.
We were poor, we had no style and I am disgusted. We would never survive in the premiership, please don't look at promotion CC if you are not planning on buying new players. You might as well start looking towards another league one appearance if this carries on.
We could not keep the ball, we had no openings and never looked like scoring...surprised we did but it was scrappy. We were completely outplayed in every aspect.
I am sick of hearing the stories that this is a another league and we have to learn, it did not take Swansea or Doncaster long did it.
Forest just let them play and I don't even think forest turned up. I know the team against Sunderland did not turn up.
Chambers was poor and again he let the whole team down with his performance and lucky he did not get sent off.
We were a class apart against Sunderland but a poor low class team against Wolves. It was a game against Men and Boys.
With Earnshaw now possibly injured, Garner, Anderson, Davies and Mcgugan injured, it looks very scary.
This game was poor, shabby and embarrassing to watch and I cannot believe this has happened. I hope heads roll for this..................

Its all relative, some of the teams in the Championship and think "blimey, I wish we had a chairman that could bail us out like that"
