I just wanted to say very well done to all of the players and Colin Calderwood for last nights display against Sunderland. I have to confess I haven't been that sure that Colin was the man to lead Forest back to where they belong, but in all fairness, he does seem to be building a team that can play the Forest way and on last night's display, is able to compete perfectly well with a good premiership side. The other encouraging thing is that as Gary said in his commentary, most of them are young kids with loads of potential. Not only that but we've still got people to come back from injury.
I haven't felt a sense of pride in a Forest team, quite like this, for ages; thanks Colin.
I really do sense we are on the way back and provided we keep these young players, we have a realistic chance of making it back to the Premiership where we belong. On a final note, a big vote of thanks to the Chairman, who I'm sure I read somewhere hinted that guys like him don't always get appreciated. Well Mr Doughty, here's one who does appreciate everything you've done for the Club and long may it continue. Let's buck the trend shall we and make it in the Premier League with a Forest fan as Chairman and to hell with Jonny Foreigner with his shed load of cash from goodness knows where.
If I've missed anyone at the Club with my thanks, here's to you too.

PS Forest fans old and new, please get down to the City Ground: 20,000 is chronic and football like our boys are playing now should be seen by 28,000 at least!
Hello everyone
what cracking games against Sunderland and Waterford, we showed that we are improving all of the time, dont forget this is a big step up for most of our players and they did themselves proud. ok the defence does gape every now and again but they will learn, as long as we keep scoring more than the opposition we are OK, if we keep playing good attacking football like that we are sorted for the season, come on everybody there are so many positives to take from the first few games so lets keep on the up and keep cheering the super reds on.

The team can be very proud of the performance against Sunderland. If we can play like that on Saturday we will get a result at Wolves.

Pretty pleased with the first few games. However, I think we're in desperate need of a right back. Luke Chambers is probably a decent enough league one centre half. He certainly isn't a right back - not at this level anyway. He's got no pace, and no concentration and has been found out already. The lad likes to talk the talk - but he just ain't up to the job I'm afraid.

A really big well done to Colin and the team for such an entertaining game last night, coupled with how we played against Watford there are some real positives. It is so good to see us play the type of football we are playing and attacking ay every opportunity. The whole team are toally committed in playing good passing football and when we keep the ball on the ground we look like a premiership team.
Once again well done and keep it up, we will fera noone in this league.

Superb effort lads, more than matched them for 85 mins!
Standout performances for me were:
Breckin - marshalled the defence brilliantly and won almost everything
Perch - the boy gets better and better in that holding role
Smith - one of the best keepers outside the premiership (despite what some people on here think)
Earnie - the guy loves scoring goals and looks like he will get 20 plus this season
Fantastic effort from the rest of the team against what was a full strength Sunderland side
We are now playing good football in a system (433) that allows us to attack swiftly and in numbers - I'm lovin' it !

Up to minute 17 a couple of wonderful chances, a missed header and Earnshaws feet being tangled up by the defender. With maintaining posession in the midfield and sharp passing one would have thought Forest was the Prem side. Glad to see the lads going for it and not backing off from Sunderlands strong team. Defense caught sleeping with the pass to Cisse who has tremendous speed and only Smith getting a hand on it kept a vicious strike out. Another threat from Cohen at minute 27 but couldn't turn on the pass from Earnshaw. Sunderland got more into the game in the latter part of the 1st half, our guys need to be more willing to challenge for the ball like in the first few minutes of the game all the time. Overall, a great 1st half with a last near miss from Earnshaw. NOT the terrified team I saw last play a prem club 2 years ago.
The early star of the second half was Breckin with a fantastic tackle and a necessary header. A great buildup with a good pass back to Thornhill then it goes 20 yards over the bar, there was no pressure so it should have at least have hit the net, make the keeper work! Earnshaw again just misses by a toe but when the ball comes back to our end 2 Black Cats were left unmarked a yard inside our box, lucky to escape. What a free kick, EARNSHAW will be taking the "Bend it like..." title away from Beckham, who's now a big fish in a 4th rate league, then a few minutes later gets open for a try at a second. After a bit of a slow start to the second half we really started to take it to them and kept them pinned in their half for quite a bit. Lucky that Sunderlands Reid couldn't convert the cross when the ball fell perfectly for him but thats what the side of the net is for. Chambers made a goal saving interception to keep the ball from Cisse however our defense had all but collapsed and the Cats had scads of room, can't switch off like that. Tyson comes on and almost immediately shows his pace, good defending was all that stopped him. A stupid time wasting yellow card in our end, the clearance from the ball in goes to a cat, again unmarked, a great save by Paul then a missed wild slash by Moussi to clear and Bardsley puts it in our net. The natural consequence of losing our focus. Though not as distinct as last year it was another example of how our falling back to defend a 1 goal lead and giving away free kicks leads to opportunities for the opposition. A 3rd good chance for Thornhill and again not on target though to be fair the header wasn't unchallenged. Getting it on target has to become a priority. After the mounting elation that we were looking to take the match and full time approaching this was a bit of a letdown. We did well taking the game to them but not so well when they were given space and came at us. A lesson to remember, they might have the ball but you need to keep after them.
Aargh, 3 on 2 and it's in. Paul made a great 1st save but where were our lads getting back to help, he can't do it all himself!? The replay from behind the net showed nobody coming back at full speed to help out. The rest of the period not terribly exciting, the lads looked tired both mentally and physically. The last 15 was all about tired legs. Almost a bit of magic from Earnshaw's dink into the box for Chambers and only the cross bar got in the way of the header. A bit of energy for the last 5 min, this was great to see as it showed the determination to play to the end, something I think was missing last year. Needed to see more midfielders in the box, yes it gives chances for the opposition to break however if you're down a loss is a loss, may as well go for broke.
Overall, disappointed by the loss (especially when the win was so near) but Sunderland fielded a team they would have put against a Prem side and Forest played exceptionally well. The passing in the midfield was excellent. The defense needs work, both regular and set plays as too often there were opponents left open and unmarked. Offensively we are weak right now. Can't sing Earnshaws praises enough but he needs someone to help tie the opponents defense in knots and spread them out. Hoping to see Tyson, Cole etc... healthy soon. I asked for the lads to make a game of it and in that I wasn't disapointed. Lastly, the announcers were bang on the money with their comments that Paul Smith is the best keeper outside the Prem, thanks for keeping us in the hunt Paul. To any who are down on the team for todays play, put a sock in it, preferably a used one and remember our play last year. I'm beginning to believe that relegation will be someone elses worry this year. From the play so far we're more a threat to the Prem but that would be a real stretch. GOOD GAME.

I have just finished watching the Sunderland Cup tie.
I have got to say that forest in a whole played top class. They were outstanding.
The only couple of let downs were, the defense again, no change there. Often they would play ok but they let Sunderland come at them and backed off too deep when they did.
Paul Smith who all this season cannot seem to hold balls and it looks nothing short of a situation where he could not catch a cold.
Mr Calderwood will you stop messing around with formations and let us stick to one, you have had more different numbered formations, that I do not think the lottery could keep up. This is not helping the team.
For me the poor players were Luke Chambers who did nothing all game apart from the header that hit the bar, Andy Cole for what we saw was just none existant, cohen who just did not have his head on the game . I would say Paul Smith but he did make some good saves early on.
Top players were, Mcleary, he was just superb, tyson, he did well for what we saw of him, earnie as always, how could you fault him with that free kick. breckin I thought just commanded the defense but not enough,
Moussi was ok but got caught out too much and that mis kick that led to the first goal well, that dampened it for me.
All in all very good, just annoyed we could not hold on to the lead, maybe next year. Or maybe another promotion this year to celebrate about lol

I have been a Sunderland fan since the day my father took me to see the reserves play at Roker Park in the early 60,s.I never got to see MR CLOUGH play but my father told me he was one in a million what a lose it was when injury cut short his career not only to Sunderland but England too.
England missed a great chance to have not one of the best managers in the world but the best of all time.
Mr Clough will live on in the hearts and minds of all Sunderland and Forest fans no matter what age they are because there parents wont let them forget.there are not many people in the sporting world that deserve to be called in my view MISTER BUT CLOUGHIE IS AND WILL ALWAYS BE AT THE TOP OF MY LIST YOU COULD SAY IM A BIT OF A FAN OF THE OLD GREEN SWEAT SHIRT LONG MAY HIS MEMORY LIVE ON.

Hi all Forest fans, after coming home from hospital on Fri. what a great dose of recuperative medicine I received when I saw the result at 6am Sunday morning. all the reports say what a good entertaining game it was with Forest playing the type of football we have come to expect over the years. all new signings who have played seem to have settled in and providing the goods, heres to a great season for all fans, must say support looked a bit light with plenty of empty places showing in the photo gallery. cheers.

I have never in all my days as a Forest supporter known of so many injuries on a very regular basis. Not a week goes by when yet another player goes injured and joins the ever present list of fragile young men who are only going to get weaker as they get older, I know this as a man in my thirties, it gets harder. It beggars belief when the club even signs injured players.
My worries for this issue are sincere and I worry as there does not seem to be much consistency beacuse of the changing line ups from week to week. It does bode well however that we at least have some good players that will hopefully succeed nevertheless.
Our attacking force seems to bare the brunt of the deluge of an injury plagued season that can only keep us on our toes throughout the season. Again, give thanks for the strength in depth at hand when it goes a bit wrong.
With the start of this season with only one striker available, it was easy to believe things were going to be shaky, take the game against Swansea, it goes to show how easy it can all go wrong.
Nathan Tyson returned against Watford, Andy Cole came on at the end, a good sign, but it is easy to think when will young Nathan fall foul with his weak body and Old Andy fall foul of his aching frame that has seen better days? In the middle of all this is Robert Earnshaw, ever a stalwart of the game and he seems to try his heart out every time. A few more of him will do. I believe there has been other injury news hot of the press also recently.
I know it may seem a tad cynical, but I know I am not wrong with this issue and am more or less right in being concerned with the constant trend of sick notes at Forest over the last few seasons and certainly right now.
Monsieur Moussi, if he keeps fit and healthy he can run the midfield and keep feeding whoever we have up front, he just has to keep up with the change of faces up field and deal with the seemingly ever changing faces all around him, thats if he does not catch the injury bug himself that has plagued Forest's seasons these days. I along with many others remember better days but will not dwell on them, just hope to gain some consistency at present and become a force to be reckoned with going forward. Consistency is what we lack, it has to change if we are to succeed.
Rowen Udell.
Listened to the Watford game on 'Forestworld' and I really must compliment the team on a terrific performance. Wolves away will tell us a lot about how good we really are but the spine of the team looks really strong. Well done to the manager for toughing it out when the boo boys from last season were calling for his head. I hope we have Calderwood on a long contract . He'll have us in the premiership sooner rather than later I firmly believe.Remember the days of Platt, Megson etc? Well lets be grateful at last we have a manager in touch with the traditions and history of the club and who seems to care about it as much as we do........

An open game -- superb entertainment--- Great three points----- however there`s still a big BUT in my mind.
Last season we had 24 clean sheets BUT already after three games we have conceded five goals. The reason for this must be obvious to everyone. I have to admit CC was spot on in his after match comments and no doubt the homework will be done to remedy the problem in the coming few days especially before we meet a free scoring Wolves team next Saturday. May I suggest the manager ensures his defenders don`t allow the opposition so much room out on the flanks. We were more than susceptible on many occasions to the fast moving Watford players and could easily have suffered more than we did. I realise It`s very easy to criticise but even an old timer such as myself would have had a field day playing out on the wing on Saturday!
Another gripe I`m afraid. Prior to the tall Watford subs coming on the majority of their attacks STARTED with Mr Poom rolling the ball out to his colleagues. You see this happening all the time in The Premiership. I know it`s an old chestnut of mine but Tom Dick and Harry balls are no good whatsoever to our diminuitive forwards. Surely this can be ironed out CC?
Nevertheless the game on Saturday was an absolute treat for everyone. Even the most impartial onlooker must have been impressed. The football was so different from what we all saw for three long years at the City Ground. I certainly wouldn`t have asked for my money back after that performance---BUT---- please Colin make sure your players do their homework --Much tighter in defence, particularly out on the flanks please.

I'm writing this in advance of the Watford game with the knowledge that McGugan is out for a while with an injury he picked up pre-season.
Last year I wrote to say that the number of pre-season friendlies meant that we began that season with several players unable to feature at the start because of the injuries they picked up. I had hoped that someone would take notice and reduce the pre-season strain on the club's playing resources.
Here we are again with some of the players unable "to hit the ground running," literally. With so many Forest players carrying long-term niggles of one kind or another, why tempt providence ?
I'm not one of those who believe that friendlies are necessary in order to find the best combination. The manager makes the signings he does only after careful research into what they can add to the squad. He knows already how they'll fit in to his plans, otherwise why sign them in the first place ? I say, have no more that three pre-season friendlies (say against the likes of Sunderland, West Ham and Leeds) and try to reduce the risks.

I was really pleased with the performance today we never gave up and it paid off, a couple of worries though-
a) Chambers seems to be off the boil, he let Smith ghost in twice and of course 2 goals were the result, concentration has to be spot on all game or you get punished, he was also done for pace on 2or3 occasions and Martin and Perch saved the day.
b) Smith used the long ball too much for my liking, its an old chesnut with me roll the ball out and you keep possesion hoof it upfield and its a 50/50 ball, its something that needs working on.
All in all a super game to watch and lets hope for many more this season, COME ON U REDDDDDS.

PS-- My Buddy THE OLD TIMER gave out a few KINNEL moments but overall was a pleased forest fan 3pts in the bag.
Pleased with 3 points today. Think we should have hammered Watford but wasted chances. We were caught napping for their goals (set pieces, typical Aidy Boothroyd style) and got away with one or 2 other defensive lapses. We missed wilson today. Lee Martin's goal was top drawer by the way and I thought Earnshaw worked his socks off. Perch and Moussi also had good games. It was pleasing to be able to have Tyson and Cole available. I noticed Aidy had plenty of things to write in his note book..perhaps making a note for future games not to try and pass the ball because they can't pass the parcel!
Wolves away is going to be a very hard test. It's important therefore that no matter what happens against Sunderland mid-week, we keep focussed on the main goal this season.
Long way to go but already ahead of derby in the table!!

Well done Forest. Didn't hear or see the game but kept tabs online. It was great to see us go ahead then come back with another every time Watford equalised. I hope the game was as exciting as the scoreline indicated. Again only 20000 fans. If thats all thats left after all the poor years the the club needs to build a new fan base. At gametime any of the empty seats should be available to under 18 year olds or those still in school, eg university, for a quid to build a fan base for the future. Those empty seats are not earning anything anyway so might as well use them ALL the time to build for the future. Again, good show lads, 4 points vs recent prem sides is a fantastic start to the season. Will be watching the carling cup match on Wednesday. Please don't fear the prem side like the game against Chelsea last season. Take the game to them, if its a loss but you play well thats all that can be asked. NO FEAR!

There was a song back in the 80's, maybe bu modern romance and it went 'ay ay ay ay moosey'
Perfect for Guy ay ay ay mouusiiiiiiiii
Good start to the boys, always horrible when we get a bit o bad luck or something and I worry about the fans getting down as oppose to encouraging even more haha
But what a noise there today (v watford) fantastic stuff!
This Martin looks something huh?
Earnshaw a banker for 20 goals this year.
Havn't; been this optimistic in yearrrrrs and have backed up my judgement with hard cash for us to get promotion. And if we do actually only acheive mid tabledom I will still be chuffed and would have no doubt watched some fantastic football over the season.
