Hat-Trick Of Finals

The City Ground has been chosen to host the FA Women's Cup sponsored by E.ON Final for the third time.

And organisers are hoping the match, on Bank Holiday Monday May 3, will attract the best ever attendance for a domestic women's game in England.

The international crowd of 29,092 for England's victory against Finland at the City of Manchester stadium in 2005 is still a record for a women's match in England.

The City Ground holds the attendance record for a domestic women's game in England, with a crowd of 24,582 attending the 2008 Cup Final between Arsenal and Leeds.

Forest's Chief Executive Mark Arthur said: "We are delighted to welcome the FA Women's Cup Final sponsored by E.ON back to The City Ground for the third time in four years.

"We have proved in the past that we can successfully stage the highest profile women's football event in the UK.

"Hopefully the 2010 final will be every bit as memorable - for players and supporters alike - as the previous games at The City Ground."

Sue Hough, Chairman of the FA Women's Committee, said: "We are very pleased that this year's Final will be held once again at Nottingham Forest.

"The City Ground is a fantastic stadium with first class facilities and we are delighted to be working with them once again on the 2010 Final.

"We hope fans, families and teams from across the region, and across the country as a whole, will help us set a new record Cup Final attendance this coming May in Nottingham."

Nottingham City Council Leader Jon Collins said: "Following Nottingham being chosen as a Candidate Host City for England's bid to host the 2018 FIFA World Cup, this is another massive boost for football in the city.

"Women's football is right at the heart of Nottingham's 2018 World Cup offer with an ambition for Forest's proposed new stadium to become the national home for the women's game in England - the Wembley for Women - as well as hosting World Cup matches."
