Marie Curie Cancer Care and The Football League officially launched their partnership for the 2010/11 season by staging the Daffodil Derby, which saw mascots from clubs across the country take part in a furlong sprint to help raise funds and spread awareness for the charity.
Forest's mascot Robin Hood just missed out of a podium finish in the event, which was held at Southwell Racecourse in Nottinghamshire.
However, the local's favourite did not leave empty handed as he was awarded 'Most Sporting Mascot' on the day!
The charity, which provides care, free of charge, to terminally ill patients in their own homes and in its hospices, was selected following a vote of over 25,000 Football League fans last season.
Gavin Megaw, Director of External Affairs at The Football League, said: "The Daffodil Derby is a fantastic way by which to launch our partnership with Marie Curie Cancer Care.
"The support and hard work of all 72 clubs is going to be crucial in our fundraising efforts and it is great to see Nottingham Forest playing such an important role at the start of the partnership."
