Courses On Offer To Local Youngsters

Posted on: Mon 26 Jul 2010
Nottingham Forest are opening their doors to the local community in a bid to provide local youngsters the opportunity to gain a range of qualifications.

Using the high quality facilities of the Study Centre the club will be holding a Level 2 course in Sport Recreation and Allied Occupations in partnership with Luis Michael Training who will be the main deliverer.

In order for all the students to get the most out of the course they may become actively involved within a variety of roles and the day to day working of our football club and community programme. Nottingham Forest hope to provide the opportunity for learners to undertake tasks that are relevant and support their studies.

The educational element of the programme is delivered one day per week, and is for 16-24 year old girls and boys. The duration of the course is between 20-24 weeks and the training will be based at The Nottingham Forest Study Support Centre. All the students will receive a training kit and a minimum of 7 qualifications these being:

1) NVQ Level 2 in Sports Recreation, Allied Occupations & Activity Leadership
2) Child Welfare / Safeguarding
3) Emergency First Aid / Health & Safety
4) Key Skills in Application of Number Level 1
5) Key Skills in Communication Level 1
6) Sports Leaders UK - Community Sports Leader Award
7) 1st4Sport Technical Certificate - Employment & Industry Awareness

The course is totally FREE OF CHARGE and to apply students are required to attend a short work trial bringing along their National Insurance number, their full home address, date of birth and an emergency contact number. We will also need any student's previous qualifications but there is no minimum requirement for acceptance onto the course.

This is an excellent opportunity for the young people of Nottingham and the local community to get involved with Forest , achieve nationally recognised qualifications and commence on the ladder to a career in Sport & Leisure.
