Crewe 2 - 3 Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest Under 18s completed their programme of games in the FA Premier Academy League with victory over Crewe.
Kieron Wallace scored twice and Danny Meadows also got on the scoresheet as The Reds ran out 3-2 winners in Cheshire.
Wallace bagged both his goals in the first half before Crewe reduced the deficit.
Meadows, who was on Saturday crowned Apprentice of the Year, made it 3-1 midway through the second half before Crewe hit back again.
Academy Director Nick Marshall said: "It was a nice way to finish with the season with a win away from home.
"We were a little bit disappointed with the goals we conceded as they were sloppy but Crewe are always good at Academy level and we were pleased with the victory."
The Reds are confirmed runners-up in their section of the Academy League behind Sunderland, who sealed the title by claiming a point from a goalless draw with Leeds earlier today.
Team: Gathercole, Artymatas, Benjamin, Morgan, Lascelles, Byrne (Papworth 66), Laifis, Meadows, Bamford (Swindell 84), Wallace, Osborn.
Subs not used: Reynor, Furlong, Kyprianou.
Goalscorers: Wallace (2), Meadows
Nottingham Forest 1 - 0 Newcastle United
A goal by central defender Neill Byrne earned Nottingham Forest's youngsters a 1-0 win in their final home FA Premier Academy League game of the season against Newcastle United.
It came nine minutes into the second half from a header that followed a far post corner by Darragh Reynor.
But with Forest heading to Crewe for their final game of the season on Saturday they know that Sunderland have to take just four points from their last three games to deny them a chance of capturing the title.
Forest Academy coach Eoin Jess said: "There were not a lot of chances in the game, particularly in the first half, but on the balance of play we just about deserved the win.
"Newcastle are quite an experienced side but we coped pretty well with what they had to offer and our young keeper Jordan Smith didn't have a lot to do but he dealt with things very well."
Forest might have added to their lead in the second half but Danny Meadows shot wide from a promising position and Patrick Bamford also pulled a shot wide after making his way into the box.
Team: Smith, Artymatas, Lascelles, Byrne, Benjamin, Laifis (Papworth 74), Morgan, Meadows, Osborn, Reynor (Swindell 74), Bamford.
Subs not used: Kyprianou, Markey
Goalscorer: Byrne
Nottingham Forest 2 - 0 Bolton Wanderers
Late goals from Neill Byrne and Ben Osborn secured victory for Nottingham Forest's Under 18s against Bolton at the weekend.
The 2-0 victory stretched Forest's lead at the head of their section of the FA Premier Academy League to 10 points but Sunderland have six games in hand.
Academy Director Nick Marshall said: "We were very good against Bolton, whose coaching staff admitted after the game that we deserved our victory.
"We limited them to very few chances in front of goal but when they did get shots in we either blocked superbly or goalkeeper Scott Furlong, who was making his first start at Under 18 level, saved well."
Byrne headed Forest in front 17 minutes from time after Bolton had only partially cleared a corner.
And Osborn sealed victory a minute from the end of the game when he converted from a Danny Meadows cross after The Reds had counter-attacked quickly.
Team: Furlong, Artymatas, Osborn, Morgan, Lascelles, Byrne, Wallace, Meadows, Bamford, Reynor (Blake 86), Laifis (Benjamin 78). Subs not used: Smith, Kyprianou, Swindell.
Barnsley 2 - 1 Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest youngsters took the lead against Barnsley in their latest FA Academy Premier League game but ended up on the losing side.
A week after their memorable 4-2 win over Liverpool, Forest slid to a 2-1 defeat in South Yorkshire but although not at their best could have earned a late draw.
They looked to have got back on level terms when defender Jamaal Lascelles found the net with a header but his effort was ruled out for a foul on the Barnsley keeper.
Danny Meadows had given Forest the lead with a shot from the edge of the box just before the half hour mark and the young Reds took their advantage into the second half.
But Barnsley equalised following a cross into the box and neat finish and then grabbed the winner following a build up on the left.
Said Academy coach Eoin Jess: "We had too many players who had off days. Barnsley worked very hard and were physically very strong but it is part of the game that we have to learn to deal with.
"The boys have had a few hard weeks and perhaps it took its toll but, despite all that, we could have still sneaked a draw.
Having said that, we had no complaints at the result - Barnsley were deserved winners overall."
Team: Gathercole, Kay, Lascelles, Byrne, Osborn (Kyprianou 61), Meadows, Freeman, Blake (Swindell 79), Wallace, Papworth (Reynor 22 mins), Bamford.
Substitutes not used: Furlong, Tinsley.
Goalscorer: Meadows
Liverpool 2 - 4 Nottingham Forest
Schoolboy Jack Blake marked his debut for Nottingham Forest Under 18s with two goals as they brushed past Liverpool in the FA Premier Academy League.
Kieran Wallace and David Papworth also got on the scoresheet as Forest recorded a memorable 4-2 victory on Merseyside.
Coach Eoin Jess said: "I was delighted with our performance and thought we deserved the win.
"They put out an older team than ours and the fact that we had two schoolboys in our side, who both scored, was particularly pleasing.
"We changed the formation, which seemed to work well. We gained possession really quickly by pressing the ball and the goals we scored were really pleasing. I'd asked the lads before the game to get more crosses into the box and a couple of the goals came from particular route."
Forest, who, like Liverpool, had three players away on international duty, took the lead after just two minutes when Wallace, who is also a schoolboy, converted at the back post from a cross from the right.
The Reds doubled their lead 19 minutes later as Papworth added the finishing touch at the back post from a corner.
Liverpool pulled one back before the break but Forest re-established their two-goal advantage early in the second half as Blake tucked home the rebound after Papworth had forced the home 'keeper to pull off a superb save.
The Merseysiders pulled another goal back before Blake sealed the victory in stunning style by crashing home a free-kick from fully 25 yards.
Team: Gathercole, Kay, Lascelles, Benjamin, Osborn, Freeman (Byrne 74), Meadows, Blake, Papworth, Wallace, Bamford.
Subs not used: Furlong, Swindell, Tinsley, Markey.
Goalscorers: Wallace, Papworth, Blake (2)
Nottingham Forest 2 - 1 Blackburn Rovers
Nottingham Forest youngsters got back on the winning trail with a deserved 2-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers at Wilford Lane.
Having seen their eight-match unbeaten run ended by West Brom the previous week, Forest overcame a hard-working Blackburn side as well as their own mounting injury worries to emerge winners.
Said Academy Director Nick Marshall: "It was a game of two halves really and throughout the opening period Blackburn put us under some pressure, particularly from set pieces.
"But, having said that, they did not cause too many problems for our goalkeeper Ben Cathercole and in the second half we improved and played with the quality that brought us the win.
"The way the players adapted to our injury problems at the back was particularly pleasing. We went into the game without Jack Andrews and Neill Byrne and then Jamaal Lascelles had to come off injured midway through the second half.
"By the end of the game we had Ben Osborn, who is normally a left back, and Kostakis Artymatas, who has been playing wide right in midfield, operating as central defenders but they did very well and it was a good experience for them."
It was Artymatas who opened the scoring soon after half-time when he thumped home a half volley from the edge of the box after a set piece had been partially cleared.
Both sides then missed penalties in quick succession before Blackburn equalised but Forest responded to get the winner seven minutes from time. Kieran Wallace was played through and he slid his effort past the keeper with a neat finish.
Team: Gathercole, Kay, Osborn, Morgan, Lascelles, Benjamin, Artymatas, Meadows, Bamford, Wallace, Laifis (Papworth 67). Subs not used: Furlong, Swindell, Markey, Gorman.
Nottingham Forest 1 - 0 West Bromwich Albion
West Bromwich Albion sent Nottingham Forest Under 18s to their first defeat in nine FA Premier League games.
The West Midlands outfit ran out 1-0 winners at Wilford Lane over the weekend with the winning goal coming midway through the second half.
Coach Eoin Jess said: "West Brom are a good side with good movement and we didn't deal with that as well as we probably should have done.
"We could have got something out of the game but our 'keeper Ben Gathercole kept us in it as well with a string of good saves. He played really well.
"We hit the post early on in the game through Patrick Bamford and if that had gone in it might have been different."
Team: Gathercole, Artymatas, Benjamin, Morgan, Lascelles, Andrews, Wallace, Meadows, Bamford, Reynor (Swindell 85), Laifis. Subs not used: Osborn, Furlong, Papworth, Markey.
Nottingham Forest 1 - 1 Leeds United
Patrick Bamford grabbed a last minute equaliser for Nottingham Forest's Under 18s against Leeds in the FA Premier Academy League.
The Reds had appeared to be heading for defeat when Leeds broke the deadlock from the penalty spot in the closing stages of the game at Thorp Arch.
But their persistence paid off when striker Bamford struck in the dying seconds of the game to secure a 1-1 draw.
The point came at a cost for Forest, however. Elliott Ackroyd sustained an ankle fracture that will keep him out for the season, while Jordan Kay also limped out of the action.
Team: Gathercole, Ackroyd (Markey 88), Osborn, Morgan, Benjamin, Andrews (Artymatas 73), Wallace, Meadows, Bamford, Reynor, Laifis (Swindell 75). Subs not used: Furlong, Gorman.
Nottingham Forest 2 - 0 Middlesbrough
Nottingham Forest Under 18s returned to the top of their section of the FA Premier Academy League after beating Middlesbrough at the weekend.
The Reds are now two points clear of Sunderland, whose game against Leeds was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. The Wearsiders do, however, have four games in hand.
Forest beat Middlesbrough 2-0 at Wilford Lane, thanks to goals from Konstantino Lafis after 21 minutes and Darragh Reynor in the 69th minute.
Coach Eoin Jess said: "We played well in parts, although I thought we looked a little bit leggy which may be due to the fact that we've been playing and training on heavy pitches in the last few weeks.
"I was pleased with the lads' endeavour and attitude, which is a never a problem, and overall it was a fair result."
The game marked the debut of Under 16 squad member Elliott Ackroyd, who helped set-up the second goal, while Jack Andrews also produced a good performance as he deputised for the injured Neill Byrne.
Team: Gathercole, Ackroyd, Benjamin, Morgan (Markey 80), Lascelles, Andrews, Wallace, Meadows, Bamford (Swindell 80), Reynor, Laifis (Osborn 71).
Subs not used: Furlong, Lawrence
Goalscorers: Lafis, Reynor
Derby County 1 - 2 Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest Under 18s have returned to winning ways at the expense of arch rivals Derby County.
After two successive draws in the FA Premier Academy League, the young Reds overcame Derby 2-1 in dreadful conditions at their Moor Farm training complex.
Goals on either side of half-time from Kostakis Artymatas and Patrick Bamford helped Forest gain revenge for a home defeat at the hands of Derby earlier in the season.
Academy Director Nick Marshall said: "We thoroughly deserved the victory. Derby took the lead but once we had equalised almost straight away I thought we dominated in terms of possession and chances created."
Artymatas fired Forest level with a screamer from 25 yards out just moments after Derby had taken the lead in similar circumstances.
And there were just five minutes left when Bamford snatched the winner, coolly firing home after excellent approach play down the left hand side.
Team: Gathercole, Freeman, Byrne, Lascelles, Osborn, Laifis, Morgan (Wallace 45), Meadows, Artymatas (Benjamin 60), Reynor (Swindell 88), Bamford
Goalscorers: Artymatas, Bamford
Newcastle 2 - 2 Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest Under 18s have been dislodged from the top of their section of the FA Premier Academy League by Sunderland.
The Wearsiders moved into pole position after beating Derby 4-2, while Forest grabbed a point from a trip to Newcastle.
The Reds snatched a last-gasp equaliser through substitute Joe Swindell to earn a 2-2 draw on Tyneside.
Newcastle had been two-nil up but Darragh Reynor launched the Forest fight back when he converted a penalty.
Coach Eoin Jess said: "The lads showed great character to come back from 2-0 down. We were camped in Newcastle's box for much of the second half and got what we deserved."
Team: Gathercole, Freeman, Lascelles, Andrews, Osborn, Artymatas, Morgan, Wallace, Laifis (Swindell 80), Reynor, Bamford.
Subs not used: Furlong, Markey, Benjamin
Goalscorers: Reynor, Swindell
Nottingham Forest 2 - 2 Sunderland
Nottingham Forest's Under 18s found themselves in new territory on two fronts at the weekend as they bounced back from their FA Youth Cup disappointment.
The Reds recorded their first FA Premier Academy League draw of the campaign after coming from behind for the first time this season.
They drew 2-2 with Sunderland at Wilford Lane to retain top spot in their particular section of the Premier League.
Forest, who had gone out of the cup at the hands of Middlesbrough a few days earlier, are a point clear of Sunderland - although the Wearsiders have three games in hand.
Coach Eoin Jess said: "We started the game really well and went 1-0 up but then towards the end of the first half we started to look a little bit jaded and let them back into it.
"But we played with more energy in the second half and performed really well again.
"It's pleasing that we managed to come from a goal down for the first time this season and get some reward."
Kostakis Artymatas gave Forest the lead as he headed home from an excellent cross from the right by Jordan Kay.
And after Sunderland had hit back with two goals Neill Byrne grabbed Forest's equaliser as he volleyed home from close range from a corner.
Team: Gathercole, Kay (Benjamin 89), Lascelles (Andrews 45), Byrne, Osborn, Artymatas, Meadows, Morgan, Laifis (Tinsley 81), Wallace, Bamford.
Subs not used: Markey, Furlong.
Goalscorers: Artymatas, Byrne
Nottingham Forest 4 - 0 Sheffield United
Nottingham Forest's Under 18s continued their fine run of form with a 4-0 home win over Sheffield United.
It represented The Reds' fourth successive league and cup win.
David Morgan set them on their way to their latest success as he opened the scoring after 30 minutes.
Jamaal Lascelles doubled Forest's lead four minutes later and it was 3-0 before half-time as skipper Danny Meadows got in on the scoring act.
Patrick Bamford set the seal on a satisfying afternoon's work when he bagged Forest's fourth early in the second half.
Team: Gathercole, Artymatas, Osborn (Andrews 63), Morgan, Lascelles, Byrne, Papworth (Blake 74), Meadows, Bamford, Reynor, Wallace (Laifis 63).
Subs not used: Furlong, Swindell.
Goalscorers: Morgan, Lascelles, Meadown, Bamford
Sheffield Wednesday 1 - 2 Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest Under 18s followed up their FA Youth Cup win over Manchester City by beating Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Premier Academy League.
First half goals from skipper Danny Meadows and Patrick Bamford sealed a 2-1 win for Eoin Jess' side.
Wednesday pulled a goal back before Bamford was sent off for a second bookable offence with 10 minutes left but Forest rarely looked threatened, despite being a man short.
Academy Director Nick Marshall said: "We produced another good performance. We started off really well and the early goal settled us down.
"The lads were a little bit tired after the game against City the previous Wednesday but they overcame that.
"The team as a whole did well and we thoroughly deserved to win the game. The only criticism was the fact that we didn't win by a greater margin but that wasn't for the want of trying.
"We hit the crossbar twice, the post once and the Wednesday 'keeper made three superb saves."
Team: Gathercole, Kay (Andrews 80), Osborn, Morgan, Lascelles, Byrne, Artymatas, Meadows, Bamford, Reynor (Papworth 62), Wallace (Laifis 77).
Subs not used: Smith, Swindell.
Goalscorers: Meadows, Bamford
Nottingham Forest 3 - 0 Huddersfield Town
Patrick Bamford scored twice as Nottingham Forest's Under 18s eased to a comfortable victory over Huddersfield Town in the FA Premier Academy League.
The striker scored on either side of half-times as The Reds beat the bottom of the table side 3-0 at Wilford Lane.
Danny Meadows set Forest on their way with a 30th minute opener, heading home from close range after Kieran Wallace's long-range shot had been tipped onto the bar by the Huddersfield 'keeper.
Bamford made it 2-0 five minutes later as he drilled a low shot into the bottom right hand corner.
And he set the seal on Forest's victory in the dying minutes of the game with a stunning half-volley.
Academy Director Nick Marshall said: "The lads played really well and dominated from start to finish.
Team: Gathercole, Kay (Papworth 51), Osborn (Andrews 80), Lascelles, Byrne, Morgan, Meadows, Wallace (Swindell 70), Artymatas, Reynor, Bamford.
Subs not used: Furlong, Laifis.
Goalscorers: Meadows, Bamford 2
Sunderland 3 - 0 Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest's Under 18s were beaten by Sunderland in the FA Premier Academy League over the weekend.
The Reds were beaten 3-0 in cold and wet conditions on Wearside.
Coach Eoin Jess told us: "There wasn't much between the two sides in the first half but we were disappointed to lose another goal from a set-piece before half-time.
"We were looking for a little bit more energy from the players in the second half but we shot ourselves in the foot as they scored almost straight from the kick-off.
"We then conceded a third goal just a few minutes later and were left with an uphill task.
"But then we decided to start playing, we passed the ball with a little more purpose but it was too late."
Team: Gathercole, Kay, Lascelles, Byrne, Osborn, Wallace, Meadows, Morgan (Swindell 60), Artymatas (Tinsley 60), Reynor, Bamford. Subs not used: Furlong, Andrews, Papworth.
Sheffield United 1 - 0 Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest's run of four successive victories in the FA Premier Academy League came to a halt with a 1-0 defeat against Sheffield United in Yorkshire.
The goal came ten minutes from time, United scoring with a header from a corner.
But although Forest did not play as well as they had done in recent games, they still had enough chances to get something from the match.
Said Forest's Under 18s coach Eoin Jess: "It was a fairly even game all-round and I think a draw would have been a fair result. It always looked as though it might be settled by a goal from a set piece … and that's the way it turned out.
"We didn't pass the ball as well as we have done of late and although Sheffield moved the ball better than we did and had more chances I thought we had the better opportunities.
"There was a good work-rate about our play and there was no shortage of endeavour but we lacked a bit of quality when we were in possession.
"We defended well again as a unit with Jordan Kay doing particularly well at right back."
Darragh Reynor shot into the side-netting from a good opening and Neill Byrne hit the woodwork with a header from a corner.
Team: Gathercole, Kay, Osborn, Morgan, Lascelles, Byrne, Artymatas, Meadows, Bamford, Reynor, Wallace (Laifis 77). Subs not used: Andrews, Furlong, Swindell, Papworth.
Nottingham Forest 4 - 0 Sheffield Wednesday
Young striker Patrick Bamford scored a hat-trick as Nottingham Forest's youngsters registered their fourth successive victory in the FA Academy Premier League.
They defeated Sheffield Wednesday 4-0 at home and the win was a reward for an impressive all-round display that Under 18s coach Eoin Jess felt was the 'best of the season'.
Danny Meadows opened the scoring with a volley in the fourth minute and Bamford scored his first in the 40th minute after a Darragh Reynor shot had ricocheted into his path.
Bamford's second and Forest's third arrived in the 56th minute after a shot had come back off the Wednesday keeper and he completed his hat-trick after moving onto a ball over the Wednesday defence and rounding the keeper in the 73rd minute.
Said Jess: "I was really pleased with everyone from back to front. It was a top class display and the goals came as a result of some really good football.
"Obviously, Bamford caught the eye with his hat-trick but Danny Meadows also deserved his goal for a fine performance in midfield and the back four and goalkeeper can feel happy with their display that brought our third clean sheet in four games.
"The early goal helped us but we always looked in control of the game and kept our winning run going."
Team: Gathercole, Kay, Osborn, Morgan (Papworth), Lascelles, Byrne, Artymatas, Meadows, Bamford (Swindell), Reynor (Laifis), Wallace.
Subs not used: Andrews, Furlong.
Goalscorers: Meadows, Bamford 3
Huddersfield 1 - 2 Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest's youngsters completed a hat-trick of wins over Yorkshire opposition when they defeated Huddersfield Town 2-1.
It followed successive home wins over Leeds and Barnsley and the only slight disappointment for the Reds was that they did not make it three consecutive clean sheets to go with the victories.
Darragh Reynor opened the scoring midway through the first half with a shot from ten yards and although Huddersfield equalised five minutes later, Cypriot midfielder Kostakis Artymatas grabbed what turned out to be the winner with a stooping header six minutes before the break.
Forest went on to create more chances in the second half and Huddersfield had to thank their goalkeeper for keeping the score in check. He made particularly good saves from a Reynor free-kick and a Patrick Bamford shot.
Said Academy coach Eoin Jess: "We played some good football in patches and although the scoreline did not totally reflect it, we won the game quite comfortably.
"Had it not been for the Huddersfield keeper we would have added to our lead in the second half.
"It was disappointing to concede a goal from a set piece but we were not really in any danger of losing a second goal."
Central defenders Neill Byrne and Jamaal Lascelles were again impressive - as was Reynor, who scored for the second successive game.
Team: Gathercole, Kay, Osborn, Morgan, Lascelles, Byrne, Artymatas, Meadows, Bamford, Reynor (Tinsley), Wallace (Laifis).
Subs not used: Andrews, Furlong, Papworth
Goalscorers: Reynor, Artymatas
Nottingham Forest 1 - 0 Barnsley
A goal by Darragh Reynor earned Nottingham Forest their second successive FA Premier Academy League win when they defeated Barnsley 1-0 at home.
He struck after 17 minutes to convert a cross from Patrick Bamford in a match of contrasting styles.
Barnsley's no-nonsense direct approach meant that Forest had to be strong and resolute but they came through the challenge impressively.
Said coach Eoin Jess: "It was a good test for us because Barnsley worked on the basis of trying to get the ball in the box as quickly and often as they possible could.
"It meant that we had to deal with a lot of long balls and long throws but we coped with them pretty well.
"Our goalkeeper Ben Gathercole took a lot of responsibility in coming to take a lot of balls sent into the box but the back four did well and as a team we defended with a lot of discipline."
Gathercole also made a couple of good saves to highlight an excellent performance but Forest also had chances to add to their lead.
Team: Gathercole, Freeman, Lascelles, Byrne, Benjamin (Andrews), Kay (Artymatas), Morgan, Wallace, Osborn (Laifis), Reynor, Bamford.
Subs not used: Tinsley, Swindell
Goalscorer: Reynor
Nottingham Forest 4 - 0 Leeds United
Kieran Wallace bagged a 13-minute hat-trick as Nottingham Forest's Under 18s returned to winning ways in the FA Premier Academy League at the expense of Leeds.
The Reds applied the brakes to a run of five consecutive defeats with a 4-0 win over the Yorkshire side at Wilford Lane.
They got off to the best possible start as Jordan Kay fired them in front after just eight seconds.
But it was against the run of play when substitute Wallace launched his own particular goal rout in the 77th minute.
Forest took command of the game after that and the midfielder chalked up his impressive treble with composed finishes.
Coach Steve Sutton said: "The lads' confidence was a little low after five defeats on the bounce but they had worked well in the build-up to the Leeds game and Jordan's early goal was just what we needed.
"That gave them a real boost. It was still a tough game for an hour and although we had a few chances mainly from free-kicks, Leeds also had opportunities that they didn't capitalise on.
"Leeds put us under real pressure for the first 25 minutes of the second half, we struggled to get out of our own half but weathered the storm
"We made a couple of changes, including introducing Kieran on the left-side of midfield and he scored a goal totally against the run of play which changed the complexion of the game."
Team: Gathercole, Freeman, Benjamin (Andrews 70), Morgan (Papworth 88), Lascelles, Byrne, Kay, Meadows, Bamford, Reynor, Osborn (Wallace 57).
Subs not used: Tinsley, Blake.
Goalscorers: Kay, Wallace 3
Middlesbrough 1 - 0 Nottingham Forest
A lack of cutting edge cost Nottingham Forest's Under 18 side dear in their latest FA Premier Academy League outing.
The Reds slipped to a fifth successive defeat as they were beaten 1-0 by Middlesbrough on Teesside.
Patrick Bamford spurned a late chance to snatch an equaliser for Forest but the Boro 'keeper saved his twice-taken spot-kick.
Coach Eoin Jess said: "We had a lot of possession and passed the ball reasonably well but we lacked a cutting edge in the final third.
"Our goalkeeper Ben Gathercole only had one save to make and if we had converted the penalty we might have gone on to win the game."
Boro snatched what proved to be the match winner after just 10 minutes.
Team: Gathercole, Kay, Osborn, Meadows, Lascelles, Byrne, Freeman, Gibbons (Morgan 67), Swindell (Tinsley 67), Reynor (Benjamin 60), Bamford.
Subs not used: Andrews, Papworth.
Nottingham Forest 1 - 2 Derby County
Nottingham Forest suffered another FA Premier Academy League defeat when they went down 2-1 at home to arch rivals Derby County.
Forest were two down at half-time and didn't get back into the game until the 85th minute when Joe Swindell diverted the ball into the Derby net following a corner.
It was the young Reds fourth successive defeat after they had started the season with successive victories over Cardiff and Portsmouth.
And Academy coach Eoin Jess admitted: "We were not outplayed and apart from the goals and one save that Ben Gathercole had to make in the first half we were not unduly troubled.
"But we found it difficult to get any kind of rhythm going at any stage. We like to play a passing game but we have to realise that there are other aspects of the game that you have to come to terms with before you can do that.
"To be fair to Derby they came with a game plan and worked very hard to press us all over the field. They got their rewards for doing that but the goals came from naivety on our part."
Team: Gathercole, Kay, Osborn, Meadows, Lascelles, Byrne, Artymatas, Morgan (Laifis), Swindell, Tinsley (Reynor), Bamford.
Subs not used: Furlong, Papworth, Andrews.
Goalscorer: Swindell
Everton 2-1 Nottingham Forest
Sloppy goals proved costly for Nottingham Forest's Under 18 side for the second successive weekend but Academy Director Nick Marshall was still able to draw positives from their display against Everton.
A week after conceding five goals against Wolves, The Reds were beaten 2-1 on Merseyside in the FA Premier Academy League.
Marshall said: "The goals were conceded were disappointing but the general level of our performance was much better.
"Everton have a strong Academy set-up and they included their full quota of four over-age players in their starting line-up.
"We were without several of our older players and included a number of first years in our starting line-up and by and large they did well.
"Once Joe Swindell had scored to make it 2-1, we really put Everton under a lot of pressure in the closing 10 or 15 minutes."
Team: Gathercole, Kay (Papworth 76'), Osborn, Morgan, Lascelles, Byrne, Freeman, Gibbons, Swindell, Bamford, Reynor (Tinsley 65').
Subs not used: Andrews, Furlong, Wallace
Goalscorer: Swindell
Nottingham Forest 3-5 Wolverhampton Wanderers
Poor defending cost Nottingham Forest's Under 18 side dear in the FA Premier Academy League over the weekend.
The Reds were beaten 5-3 by Wolves at Wilford Lane on Saturday.
Academy Director Nick Marshall said: "We conceded five shocking goals and Wolves won't be pleased with the goals they gave away either.
"A large proportion of the Under 18s played for the reserves at Bradford last Tuesday and produced a terrific defensive display.
"But it was exactly the opposite on Saturday, which is what you get with young players."
The game was evenly poised at half-time with the score 2-2 after Jamaal Lascelles and Patrick Bamford had got on the scoresheet for The Reds.
But Wolves scored twice in as many minutes midway through the second half and although Ryan Tinsley pulled one back 10 minutes from time, Wolves struck again to seal their win.
Marshall added: "We gave the ball away at the back, which we kind of accept because of the way we try to play, and people made silly individual mistakes.
"It wasn't just the back four that were at fault. Two of the goals were the result of giving the ball away up front. Defensively all over the pitch we were very, very poor."
Team: Mytides, Kay, Osborn, Meadows, Lascelles, Andrews, Artymatas (Morgan), Reynor (Tinsley), Swindell, Bamford, Freeman.
Subs not used: Gathercole, Laifis, Kyprianou.
Goalscorers: Lascelles, Bamford, Tinsley
Manchester City 1-0 Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest's youngsters suffered their first defeat of the season when they went down 1-0 to Manchester City.
It came after successive victories over Cardiff and Portsmouth and ironically the performance against Manchester City was their best of the season in the FA Premier Academy League.
City's winner came after half an hour and Forest had a great chance to equalise but Robbie Gibbons put a second half penalty wide.
Danny Meadows and Patrick Bamford also hit the post in each half but despite some impressive approach play and pressure, a goal eluded Forest on the day.
Academy coach Eoin Jess said: "I felt so sorry for the lads because they put everything into the game and played some excellent football but it was just one of those days when a goal wasn't going to come."
Team: Mytides, Kay (Kyprianou), Osborn, Meadows, Lascelles, Byrne, Artymatas, Gibbons (Swindell), Tinsley (Reynor), Bamford, Freeman. Subs not used: Andrews, Gathercole.
Nottingham Forest 3 - 2 Portsmouth
Nottingham Forest's F.A. Premier Academy side reeled off their second successive league win of the season when they defeated Portsmouth 3-2 at Wilford Lane.
And, as they did against Cardiff the previous week, the young Reds came from behind to maintain their 100% record.
They were a goal down after 20 minutes but equalised in spectacular fashion five minutes after the break when Kostakis Artymatas smashed home a 25 yard right foot shot.
Forest went ahead five minutes later through second half substitute Ryan Tinsley but Portsmouth hit back when a long range shot was deflected past Zannettos Mytides.
But Tinsley had the last word with his second goal of the game in time added on when the Portsmouth keeper spilled a shot and he followed up to tuck the ball home.

Cardiff City 2 - 4 Nottingham Forest
Robbie Gibbons scored twice as Nottingham Forest's Under 18 side launched the new FA Premier Academy League season with victory over Cardiff.
The Reds ran out 4-2 winners in South Wales, with three of the goals coming in the second half.
They took the lead through Joe Swindells after just 90 seconds but allowed Cardiff to seize the initiative with two first half goals.
Forest recovered their composure after the break, with Danny Meadows equalising early in the second half before Gibbons grabbed his brace.
He made it 3-2 when the Cardiff goalkeeper failed to hold his free-kick and rounded off the scoring when, after his penalty had been saved, he fired home the rebound.
