Leicester City 1 v 1 Nottingham Forest (Play-off) Forest win 2-1 on penalties

Cypriot goalkeeper Zannetos Mytides was the spot-kick hero as Nottingham Forest reached the final of the FA Premier Academy League play-offs.
They drew 1-1 with East Midlands rivals Leicester City at Leicester today and when extra-time failed to produce a winner, Forest went on to win 2-1 on penalties.
Mytides, who had produced a superb double save in the first half of extra-time, emerged the saviour with no fewer than three penalty saves in the shoot-out.
Said Academy Director Nick Marshall: "I couldn't be more delighted with the lads … it was a magnificent performance by them all.
"Considering six members of the side knew they were being released by us at the end of the season, their attitude and commitment was second to none. They were all superb."
Forest's performance was all the more praiseworthy because they went into the game without leading striker Tom Mullen, who was ruled out through injury.
Young Player of the Year Karlton Watson was a central figure in both the goals.
He was blatantly pushed in the incident that led to the ball bouncing into the Forest net off Robbie Gibbons on the hour mark but he scored the young Reds equaliser 15 minutes later when he headed home a corner.
Both sides had chances in extra-time with substitute Darragh Reynor hitting the bar with a left-footed half volley and at the other end Mytides producing his double save.
In the penalty shoot out Tony Diagne and George Thomson were successful from the spot as Forest won through in dramatic fashion to face Arsenal in the final.
The Gunners drew 1-1 with Manchester United on Friday but also won their tie on penalties.

Forest team: Mytides, Sibson (McCashin), Watson, Diagne, Freeman, Meadows, Elliot, Gibbons, Sykes (Reynor), Thomson, Biansumba (Bamford).
Subs not used: Gathercole, Laifis.
Goalscorer: Watson

Derby County 2 - 1 Nottingham Forest
Blackburn 2 - 1 Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest's Under 18 side rounded off their programme of FA Premier Academy League games with successive 2-1 defeats.
The Reds had already secured the title in their section of the Academy League and were preparing for the end-of-season play-offs to decide the overall winner of the competition.
They made a host of changes to their starting line-ups for the games at Derby and Blackburn, giving several youngsters valuable match practise.
Forest took the lead in both contests but were unable to cling on to claim the spoils.
Team (v Derby): Mytides, Sibson, Freeman, Elliott, Diagne (Reynor 45), Byrne, Meadows, Gibbons, Biansumba (Bamford 72), Thomson, Sykes. Subs not used: Gathercole, Laifis, Artymatas.

Nottingham Forest 0 - 4 West Bromwich Albion

Nottingham Forest Under 18s' 19-match unbeaten run in the FA Premier Academy League has come to an end.
The Reds were beaten 4-0 by Midlands rivals West Brom, just days after being crowned Champions of their particular section of the Premier League.
Forest fielded a much-changed line-up for the game but failed to hit their stride during the 90 minutes.

Team: Gathercole, Fairclough (Sibson 60), Freeman, Elliott, Lascelles, Byrne, Wright (Meadows 36), Gibbons (Thomson 60), Mullen, Biansumba, Sykes.
Subs not used: Watson, Reynor.

Nottingham Forest 3 - 2 Manchester City

Nottingham Forest's Under 18s took a step closer to securing the title in their section of the FA Premier Academy League with a 3-2 win over Manchester City.
The result leaves The Reds top of the table, six points clear of Sunderland with three games remaining.
It means Forest will be Champions if Sunderland fail to beat Huddersfield on Wednesday or they claim a point from their trip to West Brom on Saturday.
First half goals from Tom Mullen and Danny Meadows set Forest on their way to victory over a City side who had gone six games unbeaten before arriving in Nottingham.
The visitors pulled one back shortly before half-time but Forest restored their two-goal cushion in the 56th minute through George Thomson.
City made it 3-2 five minutes from time but The Reds never looked like conceding a third goal.
Team: Mytides, Sibson, Freeman, Elliott, Watson, Diagne, Meadows, Gibbons, Mullen, Thomson (Biansumba 87), Sykes.
Subs not used: Gathercole, Reynor, Benjamin, Artymatas
Goalscorers: Mullen, Meadows, Thomson

Nottingham Forest 4 - 1 Sunderland

Nottingham Forest romped to a 4-1 home success in their top-of-the-table FA Premier Academy League clash with Sunderland at Wilford Lane.
Forest sailed into a 3-0 half-time lead against Sunderland with three excellent strikes, starting with a tenth minute opener from George Thomson who shot into the top corner of the net from just inside the box.
Tom Mullen made it 2-0 after 36 minutes when he volleyed home after Thomson had chipped the ball over the Sunderland keeper.
And a minute before the break Matt Sykes scored a fine individual goal, rifling the ball into the bottom corner of the net from an angle. Sunderland lost a player with a straight red card just before half-time and Mullen was sent off following the second of two yellow cards on the hour mark.
But Forest underlined their supremacy in the 75th minute when Jean Biansumba added a fourth goal with side-footed effort at the far post. Sunderland picked up a late consolation but the overall Forest performance delighted Academy Director Nick Marshall.
He said: "We played some really good team football in the first half and our finishing was clinical, which is always very pleasing.
"We were disappointed to lose Mullen because his first booking should never have been and his second was for alleged diving when he was clearly fouled.
"But although Sunderland had a good spell in the second half we defended well and came out as comfortable winners."

Forest: Matides, Sibson, Freeman(C), Elliott, Watson, Diagne, Meadows(Laifis), Gibbons(Biansumba), Mullen, Thomson, Sykes,
Subs not used: Gathercole, Artymatas, Reynor
Goalscorers: Thomson, Mullen, Sykes, Biansumba

Nottingham Forest 2 - 1 Huddersfield Town

Nottingham Forest Under 18s went top of their section of the FA Premier Academy League by beating Huddersfield 2-1.
The Reds are now one point clear of Sunderland and have a game in hand on the Wearsiders.
Two second half goals from George Thomson earned Forest their latest win.
Thomson fired them in front 10 minutes after the break but Huddersfield hit back in the closing stages of the game.
But with a draw looking likely, Thomson snatched a last-gasp winner to move Forest into pole position in the table.
Team: Mytides, Sibson, Freeman (Reynor 75), Elliott, Watson, Byrne, Meadows, Gibbons, Mullen, Thomson, Sykes.
Subs not used: Biansumba, Gathercole, Benjamin, Artymatas.
Goalscorer: Thomson (2)

Nottingham Forest 1 - 0 Middlesbrough

Nottingham Forest maintained their FA Premier Academy League title challenge with a 1-0 win over Middlesbrough, despite playing for much of the second half with just 10 men.
Goalkeeper Zannettos Mytides was shown a straight red card after being adjudged to have denied Boro a goal-scoring opportunity by handling outside the area.
The Reds were already leading at that stage and hung on to claim a valuable three points and extend their unbeaten run to 15 games.
George Thomson scored what proved to be the match-winner at Wilford Lane 13 minutes before half-time.
Coach Eoin Jess said: "It was a hard-earned win. The lads had to dig deep after Zannettos' dismissal but they worked extremely hard and deserved their win."

Team: Mytides, Sibson, Freeman, Elliott, Watson, Diagne, Meadows (Gathercole 62), Gibbons, Mullen (Biansumba 82), Thomson, Sykes.
Subs not used: Reynor, Benjamin, Artymatas.
Goalscorer: Thomson

Newcastle United 4 - 1 Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest stepped up their bid for FA Premier Academy League title glory with a 4-1 win at Newcastle.
The victory in dreadful conditions on Tyneside leaves The Reds just two points adrift of current leaders Sunderland but with two games in hand.
Forest got off to the best possible start in the North East as they took the lead after just two minutes, Tom Mullen firing home after George Thomson's initial shot had been blocked.
The Geordies hit back early in the second half but that was the cue for Forest to take command of the game.
They restored their lead 10 minutes into the second half through Danny Meadows, who fired home after good work down the left hand side by Matt Sykes and Kieron Freeman.
Robbie Gibbons made it 3-1 10 minutes later with a first time shot from 12 yards out.
And Thomson set the seal on a satisfying performance 12 minutes from time as he bagged Forest's fourth, coolly slotting home after Mullen had collided with the home 'keeper after chasing down a long ball forward.

Team: Gathercole, Freeman, Byrne (Diagne 55), Watson, Sibson, Sykes (Reynor 82), Meadows, Gibbons, Elliott, Thomson (Biansumba 87), Mullen.
Subs not used: Bamford, Benjamin.
Goalscorers: Mullen, Meadows, Gibbons, Thomson

Nottingham Forest 2 - 0 Bolton Wanderers

Nottingham Forest's youngsters stretched their unbeaten FA Premier Academy League run to an impressive 13 games with a 2-0 win over Bolton Wanderers.
Two first half goals by George Thomson and Danny Elliott gave Forest command of the game and although Bolton improved after the break, the visitors never looked like influencing the result.
Thomson's opening goal after nine minutes came from a ball fed through to him past several defenders and he picked up possession just inside the box before stroking the ball home.
Elliott added the second three minutes before the break after a neat inter-change involving Danny Meadows with Elliott smashing a left foot shot past the Bolton keeper from outside the box.
Said Academy Director Nick Marshall: "It was a very pleasing performance from start to finish.
"We got the goals to reward our play in the first half and although Bolton to an extent stopped us playing in the second half we were still the better team and thoroughly deserved the win."
Team:
Mytides, Sibson (Biansumba), Freeman (Reynor), Elliott, Watson, Byrne, Meadows, Gibbons (Artymas), Mullen, Thomson, Sykes.
Subs not used: Gathercole, Laifis.
Goalscorers: Thomson, Elliott

Nottingham Forest 3 - 3 Sheffield Wednesday

Nottingham Forest Under 18s came from 2-0 down against Sheffield Wednesday to extend their unbeaten run in the FA Premier Academy League to 12 games.
The game at Wilford Lane on Saturday finished 3-3 after The Reds staged a storming second half comeback.
A Tom Mullen penalty and goals from Carl Sibson and Danny Elliott earned Forest a valuable point.
Coach Eoin Jess said: "We were on top for much of the first half and hit the bar and post but conceded two goals against the run of play. We lost concentration and were duly punished.
"We got ourselves back into it in the second half with a Tom Mullen penalty but within two minutes we conceded a third goal after conceding possession in midfield.
"But we hit back again and could actually have won the game in the closing stages.
"The lads showed great character in coming back. A lack of games in recent weeks didn't help but what was pleasing was the fact they kept trying to play football and didn't resort to launching the ball."

Team: Mytides, Sibson, Byrne, Watson, Benjamin (Reynor 82), Biansumba (Elliott 60), Gibbons, Meadows, Sykes, Thomson, Mullen.
Subs not used: Artymatas, Kyprianou, Gathercole
Goalscorers: Mullen, Sibson, Elliott

Huddersfield Town 0 - 2 Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest's latest success was a 2-0 away win over Huddersfield Town and means they are now unbeaten in the league since last September.
The victory came courtesy of second half goals from Sean McCashin and George Thomson to reward what was another fine all-round team performance.
McCashin's 57th minute opener came after a corner had been cleared to him and three minutes from time Thomson followed up a cross from Matt Sykes to show excellent control in the box before firing home the second.
Said Academy Director Nick Marshall: "We had most of the possession throughout the game but Huddersfield were always dangerous on the break.
"We managed to cope with that and in the end ran out deserved winners."

Team: Mytides, Sibson, Freeman, Meadows, Watson, McCashin, Biansumba (Elliott), Gibbons, Mullen, Thomson, Sykes.
Subs not used: Gathercole, Benjamin, Reynor, Kyprianov.
Goalscorers: McCashin, Thomson

Leeds United 0 - 3 Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest's youngsters registered their third successive FA Premier Academy League win with a 3-0 success over Leeds in Yorkshire.
Forest were in control of the game for long periods after Tom Mullen had given them a third minute lead.
But they had to wait until the 56th minute for a second when George Thomson applied the finishing touch to a lob from Mullen that might have been on its way into the net.
Mullen also hit the woodwork but a third goal came seven minutes from the end when substitute Danny Elliott fired into an empty net when a clearance from the Leeds keeper dropped at his feet.
Said coach Eoin Jess: "Our success on the day was based on a really good defensive performance. So well did the back four perform that our goalkeeper Zannetos Mytides had very little to do.
"We played some good football and could have had more goals but the over-riding factor was how well we defended as a team but particularly the defensive unit."

Team: Mytides, Sibson, Watson, McCashin, Freeman, Biansumba (Elliott), Gibbons, Meadows, Sykes, Thomson (Reynor), Mullen (Kyprianou).
Subs not used: Gathercole, Benjamin
Goalscorers: Mullen, Thomson, Elliott

Sheffield United 1 - 3 Nottingham Forest

In their first league game for more than a month Nottingham Forest swept to a 3-1 victory over Sheffield United away with goals by George Thomson, Kieron Freeman and Jean Biansumba.
United got their consolation goal ten minutes from time after Karl Darlow had saved a penalty but was beaten by the follow-up.
But coach Eoin Jess was delighted with the performance.
He said: "I was looking for a positive response after the disappointment of the Chelsea game and that's just what we got.
"It wasn't the easiest of pitches to play on - it was very heavy - but we tried our best to play our passing game and we created a lot of openings throughout the game.
"It was a fine all-round team performance in which everyone did their job."
Thomson opened the scoring with a shot into the bottom corner after just three minutes and Freeman vollied a second ten minutes later following a cross by Carl Sibson. Biansumba got on the scoresheet after Tom Mullen had headed down to him just four minutes into the second half.

Team: Darlow, Sibson, Watson, Byrne, Freeman, Biansumba, Gibbons, Meadows, Sykes (Artymatas), Thomson (Kyprianou), Mullen (Reynor).
Subs not used: Benjamin, Mytides.
Goalscorers: Thomson, Freeman, Biansumba

Nottingham Forest 3 - 0 Barnsley

Nottingham Forest Under 18s made it six wins in seven F.A. Premier Academy League games with a convincing victory over Barnsley.
The Reds eased to a 3-0 win over the South Yorkshire out at Wilford Lane and delighted coach Eoin Jess.
He said: "We played really well, scored some good goals and the lads were very comfortable.
"I was particularly pleased because we had played in the FA Youth Cup a few days earlier and our lads aren't used to playing twice a week.
"They put a lot into the Cup game which could have taken its toll but they produced a really good performance."
Forest took the lead after 17 minutes when Karlton Watson headed home and doubled their advantage before the break as Jean Biansumba converted a penalty after Kieron Freeman had been brought down.
They sealed their success after the break when Tim Hopkinson snatched a third by heading home from a corner.
Team: Mytides, Fairclough, Watson, Byrne (Sibson 75), Freeman, Meadows, Elliott (Wright 65), Gibbons, Sykes (Thomson 80), Hopkinson, Biansumba.
Subs not used: Benjamin, Reynor
Goalscorers: Watson, Biansumba, Hopkinson

Nottingham Forest 1 - 0 Leeds United

Nottingham Forest's Under 18s warmed up for their FA Youth Cup opener by beating Leeds in the FA Premier Academy League.
An early goal by George Thomson was enough to sink the Yorkshire side at Wilford Lane.
Thomson capitalised on a defensive mistake to snatch the only goal of the game.
Academy Director Nick Marshall said: "It was probably our poorest performance of the season in an attacking sense but we defended well.
"And given the fact that we didn't play particularly well when we were going forward it represents a good result."
The game also marked the return to action of midfielder Max Wright, who had been sidelined since pre-season by an ankle ligament problem. He had a 20-minute run-out as a substitute.
Team: Mytides, Freeman, Byrne, Watson, Sibson, Skyes, Gibbons, Elliott (Wright), Thomson (Biansumba), Meadows, Mullen (Hopkinson).
Subs not used: Benjamin, McCashin
Goalscorer: Thomson

Sunderland 2 - 2 Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest's youngsters had to settle for a 2-2 draw against Sunderland in their latest FA Premier Academy League game - despite holding a two-goal lead at one time.
Goals by Tom Mullen and George Thomson in the first 20 minutes put Forest in a strong position, particularly as they were playing against a strong wind in the first half.
Mullen anticipated a poor back pass to beat the keeper and Thomson rounded off a good passing move by scoring at the near post from Danny Meadows cross.
But Sunderland eventually took advantage of having the North East elements in their favour by grabbing two goals in the five minutes before half-time.
Both sides had chances in the second half with Mullen twice denied and Forest keeper Karl Darlow having to make a couple of fine saves at the other end.
Said Academy Director Nick Marshall: "Despite the conditions, it was a top class match and a very good advert for Academy football.
"We thought we had done really well to go two up against the wind but it dropped in the second half and wasn't so much an advantage.
Even so, we were delighted to get an excellent draw away from home against a very good side."

Team: Darlow, Sibson, Watson, McCashin, Freeman, Meadows, Sykes, Gibbons, Elliott, Thomson (Biansumba), Mullen.
Subs not used: Reynor, Mytides, Byrne, Benjamin
Goalscorers: Mullen, Thomson

Thomson set them on their way with the opening goal after just 25 minutes as Forest pressed home their early dominance.
The game was more evenly balanced in the closing stages of the first half but Eoin Jess' team took control after the break.
Mullen's strike doubled their lead before Freeman set the seal on another highly-promising display.

Team: Darlow, Sibson, McCashin (Byrne 80), Watson, Freeman, Meadows, Thomson, Elliott (Biansumba 70), Gibbons, Sykes (Benjamin 70), Mullen.
Subs not used: Reynor, Gathercole
Goalscorers: Thomson, Mullen, Freeman

Nottingham Forest 6 - 3 Derby County

Nottingham Forest's Under 18s secured local bragging rights with a remarkable victory over Derby in the FA Premier Academy League.
Eoin Jess' team came from behind to run out 6-3 winners over The Rams at Wilford Lane.
Tom Mullen grabbed a hat-trick, while Danny Meadows, Neil Byrne and George Thomson also got on the scoresheet.
Coach Jess said: "I was a little bit disappointed with our first half display but we improved significantly after the break.
"We were more committed and passed the ball a great deal better and got our just reward."
Mullen, who is unlikely to forget his 'derby' treble in a hurry, and defender Carl Sibson were singled out for praise for Jess, whose team have now won their last three games.

Team: Mytides, Sibson, Freeman (Benjamin 85), Elliott (Hopkinson 65), Watson, Byrne, Meadows, Gibbons, Mullen, Thomson, Sykes.
Subs not used: Gathercole, Biansumba, McCashin
Goalscorers: Mullen 3, Meadows, Byrne, Thomson

Barnsley 1 - 3 Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest's youngsters had their second successive victory in South Yorkshire when they beat Barnsley 3-1 in their latest FA Premier Academy League game.
Following on from win over Sheffield Wednesday, they produced what Academy Director Nick Marshall described as "a fine all-round team effort."
Forest took the lead in the 12th minute when Matt Sykes rounded off a flowing move and Kieron Freeman added a second just after the half hour mark following an indirect free-kick.
Barnsley pulled a goal back with a fine strike just before half-time but Forest made sure of the victory late on when George Thomson lobbed the ball over the keeper from the edge of the box.
Said Marshall: "It was a pleasing display from everyone and although Barnsley came at us a little bit in the second half we coped with it well and then finished the game off with a third goal."
Team: Darlow, Sibson, Watson, Byrne, Freeman, Sykes, Elliott, Gibbons (Biansumba), Meadows, Thomson, Mullen.
Subs not used: Kay, Gathercole, Reynor, Benjamin
Goalscorers: Sykes, Freeman, Thomson

Sheffield Wednesday 0 - 2 Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest's search for an away win in the FA Premier League came to an end over the weekend - thanks to a brace of goals from Tom Mullen.
He scored on either side of half-time to seal a 2-0 win for the Under 18s over Sheffield Wednesday.
Coach Eoin Jess said: "We produced a good performance, which is really pleasing because we've struggled a little away from home this season.
"A clean sheet is nice because we looked really solid and in truth we could have won by a bigger margin."

Team: Mytides, Sibson, Freeman, Elliott, Watson, Byrne (Biansumba 60), Meadows, Gibbons, Mullen, Thomson, Sykes.
Subs not used: Gathercole, Benjamin, Reynor, Kay
Goalscorer: Mullen, 2

Nottingham Forest 3 - 3 Newcastle United

Nottingham Forest's Under 18s were forced to settle for a draw against Newcastle after squandering a three goal lead.
The FA Premier Academy League at Wilford Lane over the weekend finished 3-3.
Forest appeared to have established a firm stranglehold on the game with three first half goals.
They went ahead after just two minutes courtesy of an own goal and doubled their lead in the 28th minute through Tom Mullen.
Tim Hopkinson made it 3-0 on the stroke of half-time but Newcastle came roaring back after the break to snatch a point.

Team: Darlow, Fairclough, Freeman, Elliott, Watson, McCashin, Meadows, Gibbons, Mullen, Hopkinson, Sykes (Thomson 70).
Subs not used: Mytides, Sibson, Benjamin, Bamford
Goalscorers: OG, Mullen, Hopkinson

Middlesbrough 2 - 1 Nottingham Forest

Coach Eoin Jess blamed a lack of "cohesion" after Nottingham Forest's Under 18 side were beaten by Middlesbrough.
A week after overcoming Everton in the FA Premier Academy League, The Reds failed to hit the same heights against Boro as they lost 2-1.
They only had a late consolation goal from Jean Biansumba to show for their efforts on Teesside.
Jess said: "What really disappointed me was the fact that we didn't show the same kind of effort as we have in previous games this season, particularly in the first half.
"We were slightly better on that front after the break but the fact of the matter is that we weren't very good in possession.
"Unfortunately, there wasn't a great deal of cohesion in our overall display and that reflected in the result."

Team: Mytides, Fairclough, Watson, McCashin, Freeman, Thomson (Biansumba 75), Elliott, Meadows (Gibbons 45), Sykes, Rodney, Mullen.
Subs not used: Sibson, Reynor, Gathercole
Goalscorer: Biansumba

Nottingham Forest 1 - 0 Everton

A first half Tom Mullen penalty earned The Reds a 1-0 win at Wilford Lane - their third success of the season.
Coach Jess said: "I was delighted with the resilience shown by the players.
"We played really well in the first half but found ourselves under the cosh a little bit after the break and had to dig deep.
"But they responded magnificently and richly deserved their victory."
Saturday's success means The Reds have now completed a Merseyside 'double' having beaten Liverpool a fortnight earlier.

Team: Darlow, Fairclough, Freeman, Elliott, Watson, McCashin, Thomson, Meadows, Mullen, Hopkinson, Sykes (Gibbons 75).
Subs not used: Mytides, Sibson, Byrne, Biansumba
Goalscorer: Mullen

Crewe Alexandra 2 - 2 Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest's Under 18s twice came from behind against Crewe to claim a creditable draw.
Goals from Nialle Rodney and George Thomson earned them a valuable FA Premier Academy League point over the weekend.
Coach Eoin Jess said: "A point away from home is always a decent return and it was especially so on Saturday considering the circumstances.
"We were a little bit disappointed that we didn't actually win the game as we had so much of the possession and spurned a few opportunities.
"And although we may not have played as well as we know we can, the lads showed character to twice come from behind."

Squad: Mytides, Freeman, Sibson, Elliott, Watson, Diagne, Thomson, Meadows, Rodney, Gibbons, Sykes, Reynor, Gathercole, biansumba, Artymatas, Byrne
Goalscorers: Rodney, Thomson

Nottingham Forest 2 - 0 Liverpool

Nottingham Forest's Under 18 side sank Liverpool with two goals in the space of four first half minutes.
Tom Mullen and Tim Hopkinson struck to earn The Reds a 2-0 victory in the FA Premier Academy League fixture at Wilford Lane.
Coach Eoin Jess said: "It was a very good performance, probably our best of the season so far.
"We dominated for much of the game and the Liverpool goalkeeper played really well and made four magnificent saves.
"We created a lot of chances and the guys showed a great deal of confidence and composure on the ball, which is what I had been looking for."
Mullen edged Forest in front after 21 minutes and when Hopkinson added to Liverpool's woes moments later, the Under 18s were in sight of their second win of the campaign.

Squad: Darlow, Fairclough, Freeman, Elliott, Watson, McCashin, Thomson, Meadows, Mullen, Hopkinson, Sykes, Gibbons, Mytides, Biansumba, Sibson, Byrne
Goalscorers: Mullen, Hopkinson

Chelsea 2 - 0 Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest were beaten 2-0 by Chelsea in their latest FA Premier Academy League game.
The Reds youngsters were more than a match for their illustrious opponents in the first half and both Nialle Rodney and Tom Mullen hit the crossbar.
Chelsea came more into the game in the second half but, unlike Forest, took their chances when they came along.
Said Academy Director Nick Marshall: "We were very pleased with the performance, particularly in the first half when we could easily have been two or three goals ahead.
"But the difference between the sides was that Chelsea took their chances and made us pay for missing out on our opportunities."

Forest team: Mytides, Fairclough, Byrne, McCashin (Sibson), Freeman (Gibbons), Sykes, Thomson, Meadows, Elliott, Rodney (Biansumba), Mullen.
Subs not used: Gathercole, Artymatas.

Nottingham Forest 4 - 3 Watford

Nottingham Forest opened their F.A. Academy Premier League campaign with a 4-3 home victory over Watford.
Inspired by a fine individual performance by Tom Mullen who scored both goals, Forest led 2-1 at half-time and played even better in the second half after Watford had equalised soon after the break.
Further goals by Tim Hopkinson and Neil Byrne put Forest in control but a scrambled last minute Watford goal put the visitors back in the game.
Said Forest Academy Director Nick Marshall: "It was an excellent game with some quality football and Watford deserve a lot of credit for contributing to it.
"It was disappointing to lose three goals but we were always a threat going forward ourselves and Mullen was a constant danger to the Watford defence."

Forest team: Darlow, Sibson, Diagne, Elliott, Watson, Byrne, Thomson, Meadows, Mullen, Hopkinson, Sykes.
Subs not used: Biansumba, Mytides, Gibbons, Reynor, Artymatas.
Goalscorers: Mullen 2, Hopkinson, Byrne
