Top flight outfit Wigan are the visitors to The City Ground (kick-off 7.45pm) and The Reds will certainly head into the game in a buoyant frame of mind.
They have claimed five points from their opening three Championship games and came from behind to clinch a 2-2 draw at promotion favourites Bolton on Friday.
Wigan, meanwhile, beat Southampton 2-0 on Saturday to claim their first win of the season in the Premier League.
Sean O’Driscoll is considering making one or two changes to his starting line-up and may give Chris Cohen his first run-out at senior level after 11 months out with a knee injury.
Forest will check on the fitness of Marcus Tudgay (groin) and Guy Moussi (knee) after they sat out Friday’s trip to Bolton.
But Daniel Ayala, who has missed three games with a hip problem, is making good progress and may be involved.
Wigan are not reporting any fresh injury concerns following their win over Southampton.
It remains to be seen whether boss Roberto Martinez makes the most of the opportunity to take a look at several of his fringe players.

The midfielder started his career with Forest, despite hailing originally from Bristol, and progressed through the youth ranks at The City Ground.
He made just one first team appearance for The Reds before attracting the attention of Wigan, who took him to the North West on loan in December 1993.
He made a significant impact at Springfield Park – this was long before Wigan moved to the DW Stadium – and a return of three goals in eight league appearances earned him a permanent switch in the summer of ’94.
Kilford enjoyed by far the most productive spell of his career, in terms of appearances, at Wigan, scoring 35 times in more than 270 league and cup outings.
He moved on to Scunthorpe in 2002 and after a couple of years there drifted into non-league football.
Now 38, he’s player-assistant manager at Evo-Stik Premier Division side Kendal Town.
