Nottingham Forest 0 v 2 Burnley

Nottingham Forest are still without a goal at home and have only won once since November after their defeat against Burnley.

Forest were behind just two minutes into the game but reacted well to going a goal down and for a period put some pressure on the Burnley goal, but were unable to convert any of their chances.

It was a poor second half from Forest who conceded a second goal and had hardly a shot on target.

Following the departure of Wes Morgan, there is a debut for the young defender Jamaal Lascelles. Loan signing, midfielder Adelene Guedioura also starts.

Brendan Moloney comes back from injury and Ishmael Miller is preferred to Marcus Tudgay up front. Paul Anderson is the fifth player to come into the starting line-up.

Burnley were in front within two minutes of the start of the game, the ball coming in from a cross by Kieron Trippier from the right which was headed in from close range at the back post by Jay Rodriguez.

Forest responded well and had a chance to get straight back into the game following an early ball from Lewis McGugan to Ishmael Miller's feet but his shot was deflected as he tried to steer it past the keeper, winning Forest a corner.

And Moloney tried his luck with a long cross from the left forcing Lee Grant to dive and tip the ball over the crossbar.

With the game going end-to-end, a lightening break by Burnley came close to catching Forest out, but in the end the ball went across the face of goal and out for a corner.

Back down the other end, McGugan tried to find space to get a shot in but his effort is deflected behind for Forest's third corner of the game within the first eight minutes.

Loan signing Adelene Guedioura showed his skill when he skipped past one on the edge of the box, but then shot straight at the keeper.

Good possession from Forest saw Paul Anderson get past his man and put in a low cross across the box, but it is cut out and behind for a corner.

The game became scrappy towards the end of the half as both Forest and Burnley failed to find their earlier form, although Forest did threaten just before stoppage time, forcing Burnley to concede two more corners.

It was a poor start to the second half for Forest with Burnley putting the pressure on and coming close from Ross Wallace's free kick from just outside the box, which curled just wide of the post.

Burnley threatened on the break with a long ball forward to Charlie Austin whose shot was too strong and Rodriguez was unable to get on the end of it.

Burnley were awarded a penalty ten minutes into the half when Garath McCleary brought his man down just inside the box on the left. But Forest were let off when Rodriguez slipped as he took the penalty and sent the ball flying high and wide over the crossbar.

This bit of luck lifted the home crowd and Forest reacted with a double substitution, bringing Dexter Blackstock on for McGugan and Marcus Tudgay replacing Miller.

But Burnley doubled their lead soon after with Rodriguez making up for his penalty miss, rising to get onto the end of a cross from Kieran Trippier and heading firmly into the top corner, giving Lee Camp no chance.

And Rodriguez came close to his hat-trick as the ball came past him and across the penalty area before going out the other side.

A good move by McCleary could have created something when he beat two men and cut inside to send the ball across to Blackstock, but he was unable to get it past the keeper.

And a shot by McCleary from 25 yards was on target but hardly tested the keeper.

Forest's final substitution saw Andy Reid come on for Moloney with nine minutes remaining.

Reid had a chance to get one back for Forest from a free kick 25 yards out and in the centre, but his effort curled just wide of the target.

And Forest came close again when Blackstock nodded the ball down to Anderson but his shot from 20 yards was also just off target.
